Another timing belt question

Greetings all
Finally got the crank bolt off thanks to info from here. Many, many thanks.
So here I sit and try as I might no matter how many turns I give it, the belt timing marks never even get close to the pulley marks. The attachment shows where they are in relation to one another. The tape is on the belt marks, L is above, R is the lower. The belt marks when aligned to shroud marks all line up as they should but not with the pulley marks. This belt was replaced by dealer about 90k ago. What am I missing here?

The marks on the belt serve as an aid to help make sure everything the cams and crank are where they need to be (lined up) before the tensioner pin is pulled. The belt marks should be in line with the dots on the cam and backing plate as well as on the dimple and the dot for the crank. From what I see from the pic concerning the cams, you look OK. Make sure the crank pulley is where it needs to be.

Once the new belt is on and the motor is turned over, the marks will never line back up (they will somewhere in the future but I won't calculate that number).

Aa ha! Makes sense now. I can see the how and why now. Yup, sure bet there is a mathematical formula to predict when they will align again. I think the Mayans had it inscribed somewhere.
Thanks for the help. Tomorrow I'll finish pulling things off, pop in some new seals and a WP and bob's my uncle.
