Another Toytec Boss Thread

Believe me when I say I've been searching threads all morning but still don't have all of my answers, so any help is appreciated.

I have a '14 TE with KDSS (I think). I'm about to pull the trigger on the Toytec Boss setup along with some UCA's. I had the Toytec Ultimate 3" on my '10 FJ with 285x75x16 BFG AT KO (stock wheels) and the only rub I ever got was with a wheel lock and body roll.

Will the Boss setup with aftermarket UCA's and 285x70x17 BFG AT KO (stock wheels) on my T4R fit without any issues? I've seen in some threads people mention using spacers but from what I recall of my FJ days that doesn't actually help with rubbing issues during a full lock, etc.

Anyone out there with this setup or similar?

I have a 16 TE w/ KDSS, and just installed the toytec boss kit w/ total chaos UCA.

I am running the same size tires and you should not have an issue. I did hear a tiny bit of rubbing at full lock in reverse coming off the drive way bump. Other than that one time nothing. However it has only been one day with the lift...

The install was a real pain...
 
Is the question about the tires rubbing or if the suspension will fit? The suspension will bolt in fine. You will probably need to do some trimming on the inner liners. The UCA's should bring the caster forward enough to keep the tires off the body mounts. Nothing too unusual here. Go for it.

Question is more about if I can safely fit that tire/wheel combination with this particular lift, without having to do a BMC or anything like that.

Great, thanks for the response. I figured it should be ok as I didn't really have any issues with a similar setup on my FJ, and the chassis I for the FJ is essentially the same as the 4Runner. Only real difference here is that I've got 17" wheels instead of the 16" that was on my FJ....hell, they might have been 15".

My buddy owns a mechanic shop so we always just take my vehicle up there on a weekend and do the work ourselves, makes life pretty easy knowing a guy like that ;)

I took off the front kdss brackets, I would recommend you avoid that if possible. That was an absolute nightmare to get lined up and bolted again. Some guys in that thread seems to have done it without removing kdss. I would defintely go that route first if I was doing it again.

Ratchet straps are your friend when dealing with kdss. I used one on the piston and one to pull the swaybar back to the LCA.

I ended up taking mine off and on 3 times (don't ask). The first 2 times I struggled for hours wrestling the sway bar back into place. The 3rd time a buddy came over and he had used ratchet straps for his kdss sway bar, so he suggested I try that. Took about 10 minutes with the straps. I wanted to cry with joy.

Oh and putting on the ground with tires back on made a huge difference also.

Haha, I am with you on wanting to cry with joy!!!

Good advice, that is exactly how I was able to finally get it hooked up..

What tires/wheels are you running with your Boss setup?

I went with the toytec ultimate fully adjustable kit. And total chaos uca. And tires are cooper stt pro 295/70r17. Wheels are fuel trophy 17x8.5 with 4.5 inch back space and -6 offset.

If I had to so it again I would go with a lighter tire and maybe a 285/75 r17 in a c load.

To put this in another way...
"You just benched 600lb, that's cute. I just reconnected KDSS bars." lol

It really is that much of a pain.

No rubbing now once I lifted the front more.

Before and after shots. Before the lift though man was the rubbing bad lol. Id take turns like an eighteen wheeler so it wouldn't rub

Looks great. What tires are you running with that Boss kit?
 
I'm also running the Toytec BOSS lift as well. I also went with the SPC UCAs as well.

Here is before. Stock suspension with stock tires.

No rub with the 275s and I probably have room for bigger tires but no need to put on extra weight especially with all the mountain driving I do.
 
I have the same lift with UCA's. I only get a tiny bit of rub when i back out to the right. Im planning on getting spacers, hopefully that will help.
