Just thought this interesting mostly. And somewhat relevant to a common topic here. I don't get the sense that anyone upgrades the OEM ones for strength. The Baja 1000 just ended and Canguro Racing runs a Land Cruiser 200 in the Stock Full class. It's not a 5th gen, but a close cousin. UCA's must remain stock. And they broke one. Pics are below. It's a sick land cruiser by the way. I've played around in it a little this spring. You'll note that the failure point is the bushing area not the ball joint. The same design is used for the 4runner. The arms are nearly identical. But a 4runner weighs a lot less and doesn't have 35+" tires.
Oh - and the LC200, even with the 3hour remote fix to replace the UCA, a decade old normally aspirated engine and a 6 speed, still smoked the Ford factory sponsored 2017 Raptor in a desert race! The Ford Raptor was the last vehicle to finish before the 36hr time limit. By 52 seconds. But it did finish so that's something.
