Nice looking truck! How are you liking the Rola rack and extension? Looks like you’ve used it quite a bit. What are your impressions?

I’m looking for something more “permanent” to transport kayaks/SUP, rather than the typical purpose made, but janky, racks that bolt to the OEM crossbars. Rola looks like a good solution for me.

im loving the rack, just keep in mind if your do get it and are going to use the 4xinnovations low pro mounts the rack is basically going to sit in the roof. Some people are bothered by it since it may scuff the paint a bit.

Thanks for the feedback, that’s helpful. I see your factory roof rails are the non-sport version. I wonder if the sport tubes sit any higher, as that’s what I have.

Did the tman chop on the front bumper today. I'd really like to cut everything from the light bar down and run a sleek prerunner style bumper/skidplate all the way back similar to what usbp does to all of their tahoe's. I still really want a relentless fab bumper but this is significantly cheaper and I can fab this up in my own garage and save lots of $$$$$

On the rear shocks I converted the icon needle nitrogen fill to a shchrader valve.

Lots has happened over the last few years with this build , sometime in 2022 I let the ole girl sit for 3 weeks and the the next time I started it up a cylinder#2 rod broke and wreaked havoc on the oil pan and cylinder bore.

What a horrible thing to hear upon startup, luckily I was in my driveway when it happened. You can only imagine the colorful language coming out of me when it happened. Still have no idea about the water intrusion as it was parked in my driveway...???

When I took the intake off there was a small pool of water/oil in it so it had to have sucked some of that up and hydro locked that cylinder. On further teardown cylinder 2 also had a good amount of surface rust inside it.


Bought an ebay "JDM" engine out of a 2006 tundra with 80k on it and swapped it out little by little over the course of a few weeks. Easy project , no setbacks only stripped one transmission crossmember bolt and accidentally pulled bank1 sensor 1 air fuel sensor harness apart at the plug in the process.

Right, couldnt have asked it to happen in a better place. The 06 tundra engine has this thing running strong, while doing the swap I forgot to mention I also did the timing belt, waterpump, rear main seal, replaced both driver and passenger cats, plugs, ignition coils, air/fuel sensors, o2 sensors, slapped a TC long travel kit on it, and threw some 2.5" smooth body kings w/adjusters along with some eibach springs and limit straps in the back!

Long travel kit , with poly performance "taco tabs" the 9/16 and 3/4 hardware is beef! Front LCA mount set to the neutral positions and the rear set all the way outboard for max caster, drives beautifully.
