OK- The fuse panel is mounted, and most of my accessories are wired up. I still need to get inside and clean up the mini-taps I have in the driver's footwell fusebox. No problem though, I still have 3 lugs left to access power.

I think it turned out pretty good!

I modified the mount a little bit this morning to include the ground feed, and to clear the brake lines on the master cylinder..

Are they switched circuits or constant hot?

I have had Painless 7 circuit fuse panel with 4 switched and 3 constant hot circuits mounted in mine up higher on the firewall for awhile. Painless - 7-Circuit Weather Resistant Fuse Block 70207*

Thanks Harper! Next time I have a cookout at the park, I'll just unbolt it and cut some steaks on the back side...

The box is wired directly to the battery- not switched. I may just mount a distribution block under the dash for ignition-only circuits. Most of them don't see much of a load anyway. Never finished- I know you can relate!

antman, stupid question but...your fog light mod, the one where you use the factory switch to turn the fogs on while the rest of the lights are off. I'm assuming that when the truck is off the fogs turn off too right?

That is correct. The fogs can be turned on at any time, as long as the ignition is on.

So I am electrical stupid, but am trying to understand. So you use the fuse box instead of connecting directly to the battery correct? This way you get the added protection of the fuse. Now I see that there is the negative terminals too. Why don't you ground to the fuse box or is it just as easy to ground to the chassis?

I am trying to understand. Since I will be adding a CB and hopefully a HAM just wondering if I should install an additional fuse panel too.

The Aux fuse box makes it easy to add accessories. It will provide a fused power source that is reliable and safe. The unit is actually made for a boat, which would require a ground directly to the battery (no chassis ground in boats).

However- some accessories, like a CB should be grounded directly to the battery to help avoid electrical interferance. That's how I plan on using the ground terminals. They make a box without the ground- if they would have had that one on the shelf I would have purchased it. Figured I might as well use what I have though.

alright, thanks. Yes, I've been thinking about it the last few days. I need to figure out what i want to do, I've just been so busy with stuff on my end plus work, and then i moved recently(still in Arlington) lots of stuff going on.

ANTMAN MOD # DA1 (dumb-a$$1)


Bad day today fellas. Let's just say I learned a valuable lesson about old men with attitude problems driving in your blindspot.

What happened:

I applied blinker to merge (It was, I admit, going to be a tight squeeze- bad traffic!). He started to change lanes to make room for me. Then he came back into his lane (in my blind spot). I was running out of merge room. He was also accelerating, apparently. He applied the horn, I saw him and slammed the brakes-ABS!- but had no room to move further over left. Result- my passenger front fender contacts his drivers rear quarter panel.

His lane. My fault, right? Only thing that bothers me is that he had EVERY opportunity to avoid hitting me, but chose to let my mistake cause us to collide.

That's my side of it. At least I was alone, and nobody was hurt (barring Man-Pride).

On to the damage-

Small dent in fender. Fender flare is scratched with some broken clips. Front bumper cover is scratched and pushed in a little. I think the metal brackets behind the cover are tweaked a bit.

So- I was kinda looking to do a TE front bumper swap, but a quick PM to Phillyd2, and a look over Harper's thread proved that it requires more parts than I originally thought. This would NOT be a great time to discuss dumping some money into the truck with the Wifey...

Only good news is that the flare was already scratched, and it bothered me everytime I washed the truck. Oh yeah, if they replace the entire front bumper (most likely will), NO ONE will drill holes for the front tag this time!


God help the rental car, because I will be performing durability testing on it.....:frisky: "I'll gladly take the insurance, sir."

I believe it is customary to mention what the old man was driving. MD is full of horrible drivers, seems it feels more and more like driving in New Jersey each year. I was on the fence, but now I have decided, I am leaving my 4runner at my house in FL and buying an accord or camry to buzz around here.

According to Insurance claims, drivers within the DC metro and Baltimore area are the worst drivers in the nation... (msn.com news fact from last year)

However NY and NJ have the uglyest vehicals on the road, cuase they get in accidents so offten its not worth repairing or making an insurance claim. (personal observation)

Seriously, you could take the insurance proceeds and a Shrockworks would completely eliminate that problem. Ducamonsta could install it for you.

Yea, I am pretty loyal. Once I find something i like, I stick with it. I have enjoyed dealing with those guys and I was so impressed with the fit and finish of the sliders, I am jumping in with both feet. Skids and front bumper being built. Now, if they would just build a rear bumper as good as their front, I will be Shrockworks all around.
