Before someone posts it, YES. I was bored today.
However, I've been thinking of doing this for a while and I have a history with cupholders anyway, lol.
I find the front cupholder to be mostly useless with my phone typically there- and I paid attention to how much space I actually have behind my right elbow on the console. That's when this happened...

Doubt anybody will actually try this, but here's a quick writeup:
The back of the console just pulls off to access the 6 screws for the lid.

Tissue holder just pulls off.

The console lid has an inner and an outer section. You can see that here. See that little rectangular hole on the back of the cut? It's important not to extend your cut past that. Good thing I checked first, lol

So the way I transferred the hole to the outside was to heat up a punch and burn all the way through to the top. I did 4 "corners" and then used the cupholder to confirm the circle for the cut. Then I carefully (!) used an exacto knife to trim the leather. I cut through the foam and peeled it out.
Then I cut the second hole with the dremel.

Look- it fits back on, lol. I can still use the penholder at least.

Here's my elbow position while driving.

I bet this would look a lot better on a black armrest. I may just get a fancy lighted cupholder for this.
Let the jokes begin, haha!
