Any 4runner guys out there going for street over dirt?

I wanted to start this topic since my thred called "for you 4x2 guys out there" was really about my truck being 2wd and wondering what you guys think!

Well i noticed that thread has had alot of hits so got me thinking maybe there a people on this thread wondering what some good street mods are out there VS the off roading mods.

Maybe geared more towards, grippy road tires with out loosing the comfort of all that rubber, or better Chips/motermods/breaks/and pipes, that enhance the performance on road.

I know for my truck street is where she lives, ill get an SE later if i want to hit the offroad track again.

So how about it? A thread that focuses on more of the pavment rather than the unpaved!

i love my 4runner, but fully understand it's not a "performance" car so i don't spend any money on making it go faster, handle better... i just allocate money to make it look better for the street.

at the end of the day, it's a 4runner. why not save $ for that really fun performance car someday?

i have a 4x4 v8 limited. i don't ever off-road and never will. i certainly do appreciate the awd, though, even in regular street driving. saved me a lot of times when we had a winter storm up here.

I have a 2wheeler and i don't really offroad at all, its my wife's DD so i just try my best to make it look good and unique from other runners on the road

when im thirsty for performance i just drive my G35 and all is well.

funny you said G35, i was looking at an 06 before i got the T4R. Im just a fan have haveing a truck over a car.

Ok then, i see both your points.

I guess i was wondering if the people that are not doing the off roading were styling there T4Rs any diff than the rest.

Such as instead of getting big knoby tires were finding ones that fit on road performance that were better than the stocks,

Maybe i asked the question wrong at first.

looking 4 ideas really on a more unique look, that did not envolve 3inch lift and mud tieres racks and snorkels.

even though i think they look bad a$$ i just dont think it would fit the look of what i think my runner should look like.

My 07 SE is also my wife's DD. So far I've done the interior LED conversion and 1 inch leveling spacer. I am currently looking for some good street(performance?) tires to replace the stock ones. This vehicle will probably never go offroad....

this is exactly the reason the 5th gen is going to look the way it's going to look, it's because people are buying the 4runner and not even offroading with it. :awais:

Same here! My 07 SE is my wife's DD. Even still I am going to do the Daystar 2.5" next week just cause it looks so good. I am also doing the LED conversion next week and possibly HID's in a month. For performance I used to have a 350z which I traded last year for a TL Type S.

Yeah, i love your blacked out 4runner, its one of the cleaniest trucks i have seen, job well done.

With my dark Natical Blue (i dont see that color on the road very often i have noticed) that i have, its hard to tell if the black or the chrome look would look better.

I think you need to decide if you going with chrome or black..

Like I said before at another thread. I like a Little of both. So as soon as I can I am going to get 20" black rims with chrome lips...I was thinking about painting my stock rims black but still thinking about it. I have some one that would do it for $200.
I'm also gonna upgrade my tail lights and probably the headlights too.

Well, got the rainguards in today so putting them on, I took off the damn dealership tag off the back. Im thinking of getting a black bull bar by westin that has a chrome skidplate.

Friend of mine suggested doing a 2in lift on the front with some BF goodrich AT tires and if i do upgrade rims ill be doing a chrome/black set.

I do want to get the 06 or newer taillights they look so much better than the pinkish lights on the 05 IMHO. I do whish i could get 06 headlights like Fo_Sheezy has, but im hearing they dont fit nthe 05 models!

not sure which one yet...I think it also depends on the rims ...so Im getting the rims first then the head and taillights... but well......that is not gonna be until probably december or January.

And I will like to have this model of rims on my turck...but I think they only have 'em for regular cars. But something like this is what I want for my baby....I can imagine her with those 20" black shoes...so sexy!...lol...

if this is posted twice sorry. I am at work and posted a thread never said it went threw so here it is again...

I like the black headlight ALOT!! Black with the blue accent lights are exactly what i have been looking. Going to read up on them see if i can find anywhere that says they will fit on an 05 T4R.

I assume ill need a kit for the HID? and if so if your new to the whole adding electrics to a car should i have someone else do it??

Taillights you listed i like the first set the best, but i think the 06+ taillights on the 4Runners look even better! IMHO

Street mostly but I have the urge to run out in the dunes every once in awhile. That being said I had to replace the front right running board bracket about a month ago. I'm running Goodyear Fortera Triple Treads and they are great for the road and rain just not so good in the mud, LOL.
