Any good reason to/not to use premium over regular gas?

Most premium gas in Canada is ethanol free (i think) and some guys say they have better economy with ethanol free, so that would offset the price difference, and then some possibly? Thoughts?

I don't see that it would cause damage, and I suspect the ECU would learn it. I think most cars recommend a 'minimum' octane. I relly have no expertise though so I definitely could be 100% wrong on that. If you are really worried, you could get a new map programed for a couple hundred $.

I ran premium in my 2010 once and didn't do a thing for mileage or power.

I always get better mileage and a slight performance benefit when I fill up with Chevron though vs. Vons, United Oil and similar stations. The Techron apparently helps a lot in keeping the injectors clean and what not. I read that the Techron Fuel System Cleaner is the best you can buy so I placed an order for a 6 pack online at Autobarn last week. Came to $9.95 per 20oz bottle vs $12.99 at local Auto parts stores.

I'm usually a Chevron user also, but when I can't get Chevron regularly, I always add a bottle of Techron every now and than to help clean things up. Advanced Auto seems to run a buy one, get one free, 20oz bottles of Techron, of course their price is usually $12.99, but buy three for $40.00, and get three free. :cheers: I know some guys don't believe in the Techron additive, but I've been using it for many years, a Chevron card holder since "88", and have never had an injector problem.

I would say if you supercharge, then you need Premium Fuel to prevent knocking.
