Any issues not going hubcentric?

55,000 miles later I'm going to say no. I did have a concern with whether they would clear the brake calipers because of the way they are machined. Very close clearance, but they do fit. Hubcentric was not a problem. I opted for the titanium ring finish. I will admit that hasn't held up to off roading as well as I'd hoped. The black centers are holding up fine, but what looks like clear coat around the titanium finish is easily scratched and peeling.

Personally, I would only run hub centric wheels these days after vibes on my old Taco. All it takes is one guy tightening one lug to tight and you get a vibe. There are so many aftermarket options that are designed for our Toyota trucks that look great. Look at SCS, FN wheels for options

I think it's really hit or miss. I had non hub centric on my Tacoma without a problem, but a lot of guys did have problems with vibes and such.

Hey fellas,

Looking to get some Blackrock Type D wheels from a friend but just realized they may not be hubcentric.

Any issues without going hubcentric?

Here are the wheels im looking at: Black Rock Type D Series 909B : Black Rock

tom in nc

The center bore of the Black Rock wheels is 4.25" or 107.95mm according to their website. There are hubcentering rings available to reduce down to the 106mm needed for your vehicle. In addition to the rings, I also suggest you install extended thread lug nuts. This will further help center the wheel properly on the hub and also engage the studs an additional 3-4 threads. Check out Gorilla part number 21133ETBC. You will need to make sure the mounting pad of the wheel is thick enough to accept the ET lugs, so they don't bottom out on the mounting surface.

Do you recall what lug nuts you used? open ended or not? not sure if i want to run the center cover or not but want to at least have the option.

I've broken studs using lugcentric wheels. I wouldn't do it again, especially given the nice hubcentric options. If you do run lugcentric then centering rings are a must.

See, this doesn't make sense .... A ring is a workaround - a thing to make other things fit together that otherwise wouldn't. Why do it when proper (hubcentric) wheels can be had?

OP, you'll be one of these guys with phantom issues ....

Unless the dealer furnished them mine came with acorn lug nuts and a keyed impact socket. I'm still running the center caps, but thinking about deleting them. They are held in place by 1 allen screw.
