I just got a Trek FuelEX 8 27.5+. I can push it but I definitely think in the right hands it could go much faster than I can take it. The Stache 8 hardtail I ride is about my limit, but we'll see on the FuelEX. There are some bikes I admire but are way over my ability.

The idea of the Ibis kind of came and went but now I've got my eye on this highly regarded "very light" bike at a really good price......as I intend to get a bit into racing in my ripe old age..........

Go used. Drive over to the east coast and buy my 2012 Trek Remedy 8 with upgrades for $1500 :humble: Or make an offer. :tape:
Hardly ridden due to multiple year injuries.

Anyway there are so many nice used bikes.
 
Man, I wish I would have seen this before. I have a Turner Flux I would make you a great deal on. Fox fork and shock, both PUSHED. Magura hydraulic brakes. Bad ass bike!

A little late to this party, but did you end up getting the Mojo HD4? I built a 2016 HD3 in late 2016 (just upgraded to the Sram Eagle 1x12 set up) and liked it so much that I picked up a 2017 Ripley 29er on sale. I built out both with i9 wheels and they are both really fun out here in the desert SW.

I didn’t. Didn’t have the cajones to pull the trigger. Will give my current Giant Trance 2 another year.

Also - keep an eye on Competitive Cyclist. They are based in Utah and they always do the offseason sales. I picked up my Ripley on model end clearance. I got a deal and they were super helpful since I ended up swapping the wheels, handlebars and grips.

I built my Mojo HD3 when Jenson did a frame sale. Shopped all over and got some sick deals on parts for that one.

Been on a couple trips outside of AZ for MTB - went to Big Bear over the summer in 2017. Next up is Moab with bikes and the new 4Runner.

I've got a combo of overland and mountain biking happening this coming weekend. I'm driving up to Moab (stopping in Sedona for a quick warm-up ride, and Flagstaff to stop up on some craft beer) for a weekend of riding with some friends traveling in from Los Angeles and the east coast. I'm hoping/planning to get out to Arches and do a little overland with the 4Runner as well.
 
Looking for a decent all arounder. My search so far has landed me on the Trek Fuel EX 7 29er. Thoughts?

I also looked at the specialized camber comp but the lack of a dropper and better reviews have me leaning towards the Trek.

but what is the warranty? Santa Cruz offers a lifetime warranty...

I am biased though, I have had two SC's and love them. I'm getting ready to sell my 2015 Bronson :(

Went into both of my LBS and one doesn't carry Santa Cruz the other just recently stopped carrying them as well. :shrug:

Bummer, then you are limited then. I guess you could order one off of backcountry.com but even I wouldn't suggest buying without riding one.

If you are riding in BC, then I would suggest something other than the camber. Its a very comfortable bike, but the head tube angle isn't as slack as I would prefer for that type of trail. I cannot say anything about the trek. No one in my group rides a trek.

Check out Canfield full suspensions. Have a few on clearance.

I am partial to the SC full suspension, but a slack hardtail like a Nimble 9 is a ton of fun.

I grew up racing a rigid bike. Quite a few podiums. Now I ride for fun. And the HT tends to be my preference.
