if you had about $1500-2000 for a budget, would you go nice hardtail or a "budget" full suspension. 100% midwest singletrack riding.

Coming from an entry level TREK with 26" wheels, rim brakes..

been eyeballing the Giant Stance 1 bike for awhile.

It depends on what riding you do but if you go full sus stretch your budget a bit. You can get some great fullsus bikes in the $2100-$2500 range. If you like Giant, the Trance 3 starts at 2350 with dropper post. Dropper is a personal must have for me. They are game changers. I ride a 17 trance 2 and love it but if I was to buy again now I would pickup a Yt Jeffsy or Yt Capra

clipless. it allows full range of motion and you can pedal on the upstroke. Also, bumpy trails aren't a problem when your clipped in.

Go for a used full suspension IMO. I bought a 2 year old S-works Stumpjumper for $2500 so the deals are out there.

I’m getting the itch. My 2013 Tallboy is in need of a lot of work so may as well look at something new. Recently demo’d the latest Tallboy and also a brand new Pivot Trail 429. Also considering the Ibis Ripley LS. The new Tallboy was good. Really, really good.

Scratched the itch after years on a Specialized Camber Comp. I waited and watched the Canyon website for almost 3 months before this Spectral was available. Hell of a bike for the price.

I did not demo the bike. Not sure if/where you can. I trusted the Canyon sizing system here: https://www.canyon.com/en-us/buying-advice/pps?bikeId=4310&bikeModel=Spectral AL 6.0

It fits perfectly. I landed just inside of a size Large and trusted to order it. If my legs were any shorter...

I build bikes from the frame up for guys and gals who want to get out on the trails! I resource used high end components to keep the cost to roughly half of what it would cost new...

Yep. Shore do. Not as many though, as it's hard to beat the 29er hardcore hardtail for around 1k. Pretty much covers all bases for fun, efficient riding with the ability turn the knob to "full send".
