Ive ridden nothing but tubeless on my 29ers for 4 years and Ive only had one flat bad enough that I had to remove the tire and actually repair it to get home. Once.

If you use tubes that have removable valve cores, you can run stan's sealant too... thatll cut down on those flats a LOT
I made the switch to 29" wheels a year ago.. picked up a 2013 Santa Cruz Tallboy on blowout. The bike is fantastic, way better than the 2008 carbon Ibis Mojo that preceded it. It's hard to describe why but it just feels "right". It climbs like a goat and descends at least as good as the Mojo did which is impressive considering the Mojo has a lot more suspension travel and a more slack head angle.
I admit I don't get the whole 27.5" deal. I think a bunch of marketing teams created a solution for a problem that didn't exist. And yet it's currently all the rage... perhaps I picked up on 29" at the tail end of that fad.
I ride probably 3-4x a week out here on trails in and around OC...

Post up some pics of that bad boy - I love seeing mountain bikes from the good ol' days!

There might be pictures on the 'Net. It's a '95 Trek 950 Singletrack MTB, In the color that I believe was called "Iced Copper".
I ride the same Tire on my Highball in 29x2.25 tubeless with the Snakeskin and I have to agree they are awesome tires.
But what kinda weirdo rides a rigid 29'er? LOL
Y'all passed me on 459 the other day, I was in a work truck.
If I had a dollar for every 29'er vs 26'er post I'd ever read, I'd be driving a 5th gen......

Lots of bikers here I see. I grew up in the legendary Nelson BC riding with the likes of Mike Kinrade, Garett Beuhler, Curt Sorge, etc. Used to ride a Santa Cruz Super 8 with Monster T's back in the days of hucking. haha Sold the bike when I moved to Alberta for Post Secondary and bought a Brodie Holeshot. Riding began to fade once getting my 3rd gen to be honest.
Recently got the bug again and bought a Rocky Mountain Flatline Pro this year. Boxxer World Cup, DeeMax wheels, lots of nice components. Cant believe how nice this bike is and how much biking technology has improved in the last 10 years. I'll get a pic of my bike and post it here soon...

I'm not saying 29ers are crap, but I sure don't like them. I am 5'9 and 150 lbs. Compared to my current 26" bike, the 29er feels like putting a big lift and tires on a truck then expecting it to be as snappy as it was before.

I am 5' 10" (ish) and 195#. I test-rode a BMC 29'er and found that for most of the riding, I felt less in-control and tight switchbacks were a SOB. When I test-rode my BMC TF02 (with 26's), things just felt mo-betta!
Now, I do think that each rider will have their own experience and it may be that a 5' 5" rider may find him/herself more comfortable on a 29'er or a 27.5'er than another rider at 6' 3"...(or vice-versa). LOL
Just found this thread. I haven't had much time this year to ride and the weather in GA has been super crappy for riding. It's basically rained on every day I have off for the past year. I'll probably get a lot more use oout of my bikes when I move to Colorado this Fall.

2013 Pivot Mach 6 Carbon: 160mm Pike, Fox Float X, e13 TRs wheelset, XX1 components, LEV integra dropper.
