any one use this alternator on their 22re?

long story short i need a new alt. and want something with a higher output. this one comes up on autozone.com and the description sounds like it would work and the person at the parts store says the sizing and mounting location should work. before i try it out i wanted to know if anyone had ever used this specific one.

There are lots of write ups on Pirate4x4 about the GM alternator swap and the part numbers used. Just about any GM alternator used will net notable results if you have lots of high amp draws (radio, winch, lights). Autozone or any parts store should be able to cross reference those part numbers.

Personally I used a stock replacement sized alternator that has a higher output. For me it made sense due to size constraints and it was cheaper overall than the chevy alternator.

Either way you will be happy with the upgrade. Just don't forget to upgrade the wiring from the alternator to the battery to cover the increased amp draw.

Ok, so I see a 120a rebuilt denso on eBay that is a direct replacement. As for wiring upgrade, what do I need? Just a bigger gauge for the power?

I just did the CS-130 swap on my 22-RE and its wonderful. I did upgrade the ground wires and battery leads along with an Optima battery. No complaints here. Look up my thread to see the wiring diagram I used. Best advice is to run it with the full conection. Do not try to run it 1wire on the 22-RE.
