Any Suggestions How to Mount This?

Would really like to have just a little more storage for my tow strap, tool kit, etc. And decided to mount a 40MM ammo can (17"w x 10"h x 6"d) right above the Driver side wheel well.

I can remove the cargo cover mount and get a couple fairly good mounts, but I nee dt get another mount on the othe side (closest to back) but it's just a big flat plastic wall. I don't mind drilling a small hole or two but is there a good small toggle bolt or something that might work?

Both mounts are assuming I'm coming thru the inside the box to the side of the cargo area. (Sorry about the bad sketch)

Maybe build a cover that goes over the wheel well, kinda square it off. Mount that cover, by fastening it to the wheel well on the vertical piece of the cover. Then fasten the ammo can to the top piece of the wheel well cover, a couple bolts or screws in the bottom of the ammo can that will fasten to the cover and not all the way through to the top of the wheel well. ( ?? Make any sense? )

Sorry don't know how to draw a real picture,

Not sure of any way to fasten through the plastic.

Yes, I see exactly what you're saying. Build a mounting platform over the well and mount can to that rather than the side - thanks, I will go that route unless something else comes up.

My only concern is I tend to slide a lot of things in the back that always seem to just fit between the two wells, although I could go pretty thin if I use L brackets for the top pice.

Dont be afraid to thru bolt it all the way thru the wheel well to the outside with bolts and fender washers. Thats how i mounted my sub and it has worked out well. Sprayed the bolts outside in the wheel well with that rubber undercoating stuff and you wouldnt even know its there.

Edit: just dont drill into your gas filler

Ok, I'll look at drilling straight down rather than into cargo side wall and use some short carriage bolts with some fender washers and a nylock nut in the well.

That's the fun thing about owning a fun vehicle that I'm keeping forever - you can drill and make permanent modifications without worrying about resale value
