Any TPMS Display's?

I've got a tire sensor that is dead. Toyota wants $250 to replace ONE... I'm just going to buy an entire aftermarket set, but want to know if any of you know of a nice, SMALL display or monitor that will work with factory style sensors.

I found this cool one for Nissan that goes in a switch blank, but all the generic systems I've found are big and bulky.

tpms for wheels

You've probably already know to check battery ? Or check the thread for how to shut it off ? Or check a junkyard for them ? This seems like alot of hassle for these things .

My understanding is that the factory sensors don't have a replaceable battery. That said, the aftermarket ones are cheap enough that I don't mind buying new ones if I can get a display to work with them.

I hear ya , when I changed my sensors to TE wheels the guys said the gaskets & kit for them were all I had to worry about . And scrap junkyard forgot they have to be programmed . If I had to do it over would just shut it down , always used to check my pressure myself , nice tech though !
 
Yeah mine has been on since purchase and I dont believe in really spending that much on a dead sensor. I'm pretty sure if I just check pressure regularly like the good old days I really don't need to rely on the new technology. Is it great YES, but is it necessary no not really. I have now been driving around with the light on for over 10k miles, it doesnt really bother me, and I don't quite trust myself yet with resetting or bypassing the light to turn it off.
 
the tpms i have for my aftermarket wheels tells pressure for each wheel not just indicates that one is low, so yes, its needs a bigger screen. i think its better but it uses its own sensors not he oem ones. pretty sure the batteries are replaceable also.
 
$250 sounds a bit much for one TPMS sensor. Unfortunetly you're going to need a Dealer or someone with a TPMS capable scantool to get the new TPMS programmed. The other issue is whether or not the Aftermarket ones will even be recognized by the Toyota TPMS System (I have not looked into the aftermarket ones too deeply, but this was an issue I have heard from other mechanics and encountered on a GM a while back.)

That being said, you should be able to get an OEM one for around $120-ish. The extra cost is for removing the tire (in the case of TPMS, we shave time off by just popping the bead and squishing the tire down.) and reprogramming the TPMS with the new IDs. (Toyota's system requires you to get all 4 or 5 FCC ID's and programing them all in one shot.)

Check with a good local tire shop and see if they can quote you a better price as my understanding is many of the more upper end tire shops now have TPMS capable tools.
 
$130 out the door to do mine. Its not worth it to me so next time it happens I am just going to shut it down.
 
Sorry for the confusion. I don't plan to replace them with factory sensors. I like having a tpms, but want an aftermarket display to see tire pressure / thempersture at all times. My question was more about whether anyone has seen a SMALL display similar to what I posted above.
 
probably too big & bulky for you but it plugs into cig. socket without additional wiring. it is a little large but i like that i can see all wheel pressures at once. mounted on console in front of shift, its about 2in x 3in.

That's cool. Does it integrate with the factory TPMS (dash light on)? I'm assuming you had to also install aftermarket sensors for the temp. function.
 
Thats pretty cool Chaz. I think it would drive me nuts though having different numbers for each tire. . . . . . would be stopping all the time to air up or down.:doh:
 
Small TPSM Display

This is a tire pressure monitor system DISPLAY. It has an antenna that receives the Toyota signal that already communicates from the wheels to the main computer. NO after market sensors, no after market valve caps. It uses the EXISTING toyota signal, and displays the info.
I contacted the manufacture, and they say its compatible with the Toyota 4runner 5th generation, and all toyota's after a certain date(sorry the conversations have been strained due to language and cultural diferences, and I dont recall the specific year). My Wife gave her thumbs up for me to get it
for my 4runner, but Currently trying to figure out shipping options due to the ports being overwhelmed. If it works out well she says she wants one for her 2010 highlander.

The display is the size of a light switch, would fit into an open slot, and displays individual tire pressure, as well as temps. It's expensive... normally $150 but they have sales... right now its $127.50 plus shipping. Shipping ranges from $25, $35, and $45, but I am still trying to get them to explain each since air mail they say, is not an option due to covid.
Took forever to find this item, but I'm tired of checking all 4 tires just to find the low one, so it will be money well spent for convenience. Hope the info helps.
 
I found this years ago. They can still be found on aliexpress, etc. I picked up a set eons ago (5-6 years ago) but never installed it. I want to say I had to trim the button to get it to fit into a blank. I abandoned the project b/c at the time I wanted to get an Android head unit with TPMS capability. I've since (I'm constantly changing my mind) wanted to revisit this, so who knows.

I just bought 4 new tires at Mavis. They offered to replace them at 70 bucks a piece.

They have been broken for 5 years now - why bother...
 
Bypass it??

So it may not be the best idea, but I stole the wheels and tires from my previous 4runner and put them on my current 4runner. Of course, I do not have a programming tool. So I had the light on for months and it was frustrating. The TPMS unit is under the glove box on the passenger footwell. I opened that sucker up and shoved a paperclip into the positive and negative for the plug and shorted out the system. The only downside to doing this is that I just have to manually check my tire pressures once a month(OH NO WHAT A HASSLE!!). Now my dash doesnt have any lights on and I can go about my day with a clean cluster.
 
They do sale aftermarket preprogrammed tpm sensors at local autoparts store, I've installed a few on different makes where you just drive and they learn on their own
 
A solution that takes care of the dash light AND gives you a readout would be awesome. I don't *think* the OBD2 bluetooth/wifi readers are able to read out tire pressure but not sure. The unit linked earlier in the thread (that fits into a blank dash switch) seems like a neat solution. Wonder if anyone has tried it?
