any way to get daytime running lights?

I searched but couldn't find anything on this. I'm coming from a 2002 SR5 that has daytime running lights.

I went out in the rain today, and almost accidentally left my lights on.

Kind of disappointed that my new 2016 TEP doesn't have this feature.

Is there any way to mod and get daytime running lights for my rig?

Turn the light selector on to the DRL position. Done.

DRL's are standard, you have them. You should be running your headlights in the rain though, not just DRL's. If you lock your vehicle, they will turn off on their own, another standard feature.

maybe I'm confused by definition. Maybe what I mean is automatic headlights. My 2002 headlights would turn on and off automatically when the car is running. I haven't found a setting on my 2016 that does this.

Auto headlights. Unless your stem says auto, you don't have them. I don't know what trims do. My trail doesn't. I pretty much just keep my headlights on all times, I tend to forget to turn them on when needed if I don't. My 4runner turns them off for me when I leave it, it just doesn't turn them on.

I guess it's not a big deal if they turn off on their own after a small duration. I suppose I'm just use to my 14 year old 4runner having them, and my new 40k truck not having them is a little disappointing. 1st world problems.....

I'm assuming it will turn off the fog lights automatically too?

Yes, heck if you just click the lock button twice, they shut off.

If you turn the knob to lights on, and just leave it there, it will do exactly what you're expecting.

Limited has auto on, but the sensitivity isn't the best, I still find myself turning them on manually sometimes. Unless it's changed I think all other models only have auto off headlights.

If you turn the knob to lights on, and just leave it there, it will do exactly what you're expecting.

That's the easiest fix!

"On" all the time, "off" with 2 presses on the "lock" button on the key fob.

I am glad we don't have auto headlights. We had to unplug and disable them on the FJs. With auto headlights you were always blinding your spotter on night runs.

And to be clear, though it was mentioned above, you don't have to double tap lock to shut them off - that just shuts them off immediately. They'll turn off on their own in ~30 seconds after you lock it by clicking once, so it's a courtesy light.
