Anybody else have an air filter that fits like crap?

So today while changing oil, I checked the air filter. My 2014 that I bought in July now has 15k and I have never checked the air filter before. Well to my surprise, the filter was somewhat deformed on one end which had about a 1/4" to 3/8" gap that dirty air could just go around. Since we do drive on some dusty roads, this kind of pisses me off and worries me at the same time. I'll be picking a new filter up from Napa tomorrow.

For the meantime, I stuck some cardboard on the dirty side of the filter to help the end seal correctly in case Napa doesn't have the air filter in stock.

Amazing what a few pieces of card board can do. Now it will at least seal like it should.

One of the 1st things I checked when I bought my used 11 so called Toy cert bs but it was new so ...very odd would that be installed at POO or ?

Putting the lid back on the airbox clamps down on the rubber lip around the filter and seals it up tight. I wouldn't sweat it unless your rubber edge is somehow grossly misshapen or damaged.

Use NAPA if you like, but AC Delco's AFs(at least all the ones I've bought) in the last couple of years are Toyota AFs. Same markings, etc. as the ones you buy at a Toyota dealership for about 1/2 the price.

Mine seemed a little loose when I bought it. Play and wiggle left to right, top to bottom. The only reason why I knew.. I dropped in the aFe Dry filter from my FJ before leaving the lot.
