Anybody have their Tranny Replaced due to Shudder

I have a 2011 4R and at 3K mi noticed a shudder when shifting from first to second. Took it to dealer, tech drove and noticed it right away, kept 4R overnight and contacted Toyota who was well aware of this problem.
Told tech to do a re-flash. Did not help, so dealer wrote that vehicle was functioning properly and gave it back to me and it is still the same.
Now I hear their is a TSB for this problem and it involves replacing transmission with a remanufactured unit, however I do not a remanufactured transmission in my 4R, I did not purchase it used. I want a new transmission from Japan with the updates complete. Vehicle now has 15K mi. on it.
Any ideas or input from others with same problem ??

My 2011 does the same thing, usually around a tight corner at low speed from a stop. I test drove other 2011's and they did the same thing. I personally do not think it will cause any problems down the road because all you have to do is accelerate slightly more in the above described condition and the "shudder" goes away. I did tell the service department and they drove it and documented it. I did this so if there is ever an issue beyond 60K with the transmission it could still be considered for a replacement under warranty. I now have 45K on mine and barely notice it anymore as it requires a specific set of circumstances to even cause this shudder.

Yes, you did not purchase it used but it is used now after 15K miles. There is nothing wrong with a reman unit. There is a huge difference between a remanufactured unit and a repaired unit. Repaired means only replacing the broken or defective part(s) and remanufactured means building the component back to original (or in this case improved) specs with all wear items replaced as new.

If you're dissatisfied, and Toyota is willing to replace the trans, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

a) You get a 'new' trans, and

2) Toyota now owns your problem, should it persist/get worse.

I did purchase the Toyota Platnum Extended warranty, so I have another
5-1/2 years to think about it.

i believe he meant that it does it when going from a stop cuz if he's talking about when it shifts to 2nd.. in a tight turn i'm never going to 2nd gear when i turn tight enough that i feel the 4wd shudder (i have limited) which i've thought was normal.. some suv's trucks do that. but going straight from a stop into 2nd gear.. that could be an issue.. sounds like torque converter though.
