On the 4th gen it took me a weekend. I would HOPE that a second go-around at a 5th gen would go a little easier as the mounting systems are very similar.

Correct, but I dont want to over-think the sharkfin. its only 2.5" tall or so which will just put it above the level of the floor of the rack and shouldn't require much to give it the clearance it needs.

Considering price and perceived quality this rack is a very attractive option. I'm assuming shipping would be a lot more economical than rabbit's full length rack to NC. On top of that, I really want a full length rack, damn it! I just can't see spending over a grand before shipping.

Well, [MENTION=165]momo.75[/MENTION] and I can both attest to "perceived quality" is not a myth. these are quality racks made with blood, sweat, tears and love.
Mine fully loaded (optional full floor, and crossbars) with shipping came in @ $920 shipped to Philly pa
Pricing on a 5th gen may be more or less, thats for Josh to decide.
Here is my rack not even breaking a sweat with my 150# RTT, and when its full of people sleeping in it...add in 400-500# easily. my rack even got ran over by a 1995 chevy suburban with 26" wheels the day before i put it on. only bent one of the mounting tabs. nothing a BFH couldnt fix. floor didnt bend nor did the side rails. DONT TRY THAT AT HOME, your results may vary !!

Shipping would be about $90 to a business address since you're on this side of the country. These racks are, unfortunately sometimes, the real deal, they kill me lol!

I just spoke with Josh via email and am tempted to make the trip down from St. Louis for a couple of days for the test fit. Having thought about it a little more I would chip in $100 for expenses if someone closer could make it happen sooner. If anyone else is as serious about getting one of his racks as I am, they could feel free to contribute as well. Josh indicated that his schedule is tight, but I'm hoping the $100 in addition to the discounted rack sweetens the deal.

I offered above back on Oct 21st and never heard any response. Not sure if he found a truck to work from or not but in the absence of any response I ordered a drabbits rack. Sorry.
Sorry man, truly didn't mean to ignore your post and offer. I don't check into the 5th gen section at all so unless there's a post quote or like to point me there I just don't check in. I definitely wasn't blowing you off and it's my bad!
