Anyone added the stock JBL sub enclosure to a non JBL 4Runner?

I have a feeling this probably hasn't been done. Would be nice though. I'd love to add just a touch of bass without rendering my entire trunk useless and/or rattling my brain to jello.

Yeah, I've had double 12's most of my adult years, but with my last 4Runner I just wanted a nice subtle bit of bass and my 8" JL worked perfect in my 08. I still have it and the amp, and would like to just add it to my new truck, just don't want to start hacking up body panels on my brand new truck either if I don't have to

No, adding a JL 8" sub and amp using the stock sub box enclosure

It's not, I would be running my own power and wiring, I'm just asking about the trim panels. It looks like I'm just going to have to remove them and see how much room I have.

I added my own sub and amp in my last truck and wired it all myself

I don't have any pics on the fly, but yes you will have to modify the exisitng panel. When you remove the panel, there will be plenty of room for the stock enclosure but without seeing the inside of your runner I am guessing it is the same as mine. I did do a custom box with an 8" sundown.

The 1st thing you will have to do is lose the cubby that is in the side, it detaches. After that you will have to figure out how you want to cover that hole. Good luck and post some pics when you're done.

Yep, that is what I was hoping for. My 4th gen I had to cut the whole interior panel in the back, and source the trim panel which isn't sold separately so it was a nightmare. I was hoping tthat the cubby would pop out after inspecting it it looks like it does. Thanks for sharing!
