Anyone apply bedliner to hood of 5th Gen

Just found out I had a bit of hail damage and was considering having bedliner professionally applied anyways on the hood being the scratches and rock chips are adding up. Will know next week what they will be offering for the repair work. Has anyone done this to a 5th gen, if so pics.

I have no experience with bedliner, but I do have experience with dents. Have you considered painless dent repair? A Hood is probably the easiest panel to repair because it is pretty flat. At worst, a good PDR guy can get it looking close to perfect for an affordable price.

But if the rock chips bother you, then I would just have it resprayed with factory paint. Insurance should cover hail damage and pay for the bodywork and respray. Then maybe add a hood deflector or clear bra to stop future paint damage.

Any damage on the roof? If there is, I would just file a claim with the insurance and have the hood and roof repaired and painted. At least that’s what I would do if my 4Runner had hail damage.

Buddy of mine did his Jeep with this Dupont stuff, it wasn't cheap but is an incredible product. Someone out your way might be doing it...

Not on a hood but I did the front fender on my V-Strom because it kept getting dinged with rocks on the trails and the bugs were a MFer to clean off it.

Bugs don't stick to bedliner and if it chips you just hit it with another coat. Pretty idiot-proof. I just got a couple cans from Lowe's and knocked it out in about an hour.

One of the guys at work lined his 2014 F150 hood to cover dings. Doesn't look bad at all.

I have my hood linex'd to body match the rest of the truck which is MGM (dark grey). I love it. I never have to worry about rock chips or hail and I had a small garage in a previous rental property and I could set my tool box and any other items on the hood and never think twice about it. I love it. Some hate it. YMMV, but it's been fantastic for me.

Linex all over. Would recommend, great insulator of sound and heat and never worry about scratches/dings/etc. Recommend to have it professionally installed as well.

I am GREEN with JEALOUSY RN!!!!! I want to do that so bad but I cannot take the time to put my ride out of comission like that, not to mention the $$$$$$ it requires....

How did I never see you around HTX???? I moved from there around November last year (but was there for years before that) but I would have loved to oogle your ride!!!!

Not sure how we missed each other, always on the lookout for sweet 4runners. Really enjoy your ride as well! We’ve only been in town for a year, but love it so far. Moved from southern Utah, offroad options not as great in Houston, but BBQ is much better

I am amazed, hell jealous lol, of people that can just take such a car like the 4runner and do that to it. Looks awesome. Could never get myself to do it of course, and I am not even one of those "save it for resale value" types.

I had the bed of our 2000 Tundra Linex'd when we bought it new. So, 18+ years later it has held up really well. However, it appears to have been applied quite a bit thicker than in the above pics.

As far as hail protection - I think it depends on how big the hail is. Sure the Linex would offer some protection; but you would still get dents with large hail and they would be harder to repair.

Just do a goolag search or otherwise for line-x Range Rovers, etc. There are many killer Ranges out there alone. If my wagon ever needs a paint job, that's what it's getting. Full strip and full-vehicle colored line-x treatment.

I'm going to Line-X Premium my hood (minus the scoop) next week to reduce glare. I'll post some photos after its done.
