Anyone change gas filter on 5th gen yet ?

I could figure it out myself , but I have spoiled by the great write ups found on these forums and looking for the lazy way out just to get a feeling whats involved if its to hard to get at I will put doing it off for a while. lol

Pretty sure it's in the tank (sock style over inlet of fuel pump) and is not serviceable.

Well, sure, but Jeff has diapers to change, toys to pick up, dishes to do, Mrs Pat to do, plus he has to get up at 0400 hrs and take care o' bidnit. So, it's just me and Mr. Tanqueray. I'm so lonely.

I gotta watch O'Reilly now...

My girls are now 7 and 9 so I'm not changing diapers (but I swear they whine more NOW than THEN, Jesus)

I got promoted 16 months ago so I no longer get up at 3 am, lol.

You are right about Mrs Pat though...


Don't be lonely, you got us- at least before Greg steps in and locks this bish up.

You think they whine NOW? Wait 'til they're 15 going on 20. So glad I had boys. You can beat their ass, not so much girls, you gotta buy them shit to stop it.

As [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] mentioned, the fuel filter is located on the inlet side of the in-tank fuel pump. I actually think you can buy that sock filter separate though, I haven't looked at a parts diagram for a fuel pump in a while (Toyota ones don't usually go bad). It's not really serviceable, though it's probably not going to get too clogged up because it sits at the bottom and gets fluid sloshing over it constantly so there's a slight "washing" effect to keep larger particulates from clogging up the filter.

You know the times I have had to pull a fuel pump or drop a tank, they've been rather clean inside. I imagine that's mainly because the fuel tanks are polymer now, I know with older steel ones you'd get the liners to start peeling a bit and when water sat too long in them they'd get rusty and all that would just clog everything up.

I'm glad I am not the only one do does that. Every now and then I'll see that thing wiggling along on the screen out of the corner of my eye and I'll reach over and smack the screen. lol
