Anyone else have this problem?

So I have a ’12 SR5 (one of the rare Stevie Ray Vaughn editions) with just under 5K miles. Yesterday the latch for the console broke. It looks pretty flimsy, is this a common problem?

Also, does anyone rotate their spare tire (i.e. rotate 5 tires instead of 4).

I tried to close the center console lid and the latch broke! It was about 20 degrees out, but still....

I had another vehicle year's ago that had the same problem in the first few thousand miles. Turned out the lid hinge was installed slightly off center, causing the clip to hit the latch off center. When it got cold, the clip did not have enough play/give to fit into the latch, thus it just broke off.

I broke mine. It is like a $4 piece from Toyota parts and a 3 minute fix. Held in place by a couple screws.

There's a Stevie Ray Vaughn edition? I didn't know that!

Anyways, I haven't had any issues with the center console with the exception of having to shim it to stop a rattle. However, the latch is pretty cheap.
