So I have 2 torn CV boots and need to fix them at some point, and I found this company that makes a kit that basically wraps a special boot that's cut in half around the cv axles then you use a special glue to secure the two sides of the boot.

Easy cv boot | Cuffia Facile, cuffia semiasse innovativa by HipporedCuffia Facile, cuffia semiasse innovativa by Hippored

These things are from Italy, so shipping would be expensive, but if they're good then it would DEFINITELY be a huge time saver so I don't have to take my whole linkage apart to take off the cv axles. Anyone ever used or heard of these guys?

toyota makes a repair kit too that you can get from any dealer..i've heard that they bust all the time though, and rarely work as well as starting over.

If your looking for a temporary fix, go for it. Just remember that you've lost some grease and got some dirt in there. Long term spend the money and do it right.

I've had to change my own CV boots at about 125k miles. I know how messy it is with all that grease and can't fathom getting a good glue seal on that split boot solution. The problem is aggravated by as little as a 2" lift.

The solution is a genuine OEM Toyota boot kit (includes both sides) for roughly $70 from the dealer.....or convert your fixed hubs to manual lock. Saves a ton of wear/tear. There is an additional benefit where it actually increases the value of the Runner I would think..

....or do an SAS like I did So nice to have manual hubs again :)

Yeah, thats a good point. I mean it seems pretty strong, but if im gonna spend $70 on the kit coming all the way from Italy, I might as well just spend $70 on the OEM solution. Fix it the right way to save myself a hassle in the future.
