Anyone ever made a light mount bracket next to mirrors?

I want my two KC lights to go somewhere, don't want to get another brush guard or get a roof rack. I was wondering if anyone had ever made a bracket like jeeps have

I know it wouldn't work exactly like this due to our pillar moulding pieces being one straight piece, but I was thinking maybe coming through the door or something?

I think it'd require a bit more work than it'd be worth doing to the vehicle, but it could be done?

Why not just drill a hole through the A-Pillar and do the old school highbeam/police spot light deal?

That would actually be kind of sweet, but don't you seriously have to modify the pillar/drill a giant hole?

The lights I have are KC daylighters that I put HID's in so I'd like to keep them if possible. The mounting style is just one stud coming from the base od the unit that tightens it down.

Tough call... our fleet maintenance guys add spotlights to our fords regularly and it usually looks ok when it's all done. I don't know how it'd look on a 4runner tho. Unless you want to hide your custom grille, I'd try to utilize the space adjacent to your front license plate. Unless that's too low or you're worried about debris etc.

Meh, i thought about that a lot. I have two options:

inside grille with tint (don't really like, hard to mount and won't look great and i slaved over that grille)

in the lower valence:

I can stick a piece of steel coming off the bumper and through the lower grille, probaby 1/4" and mount the light just on that - it's kinda ugly though and i'd be concerned about jiggling, even with 1/4" steel. plus it would be kinda ugly.

There is a product on tacoma world that mounts to the hood hinge and puts a light in about the same spot. Not positive it would work with a 4R, but it's worth a try.

those look sweet, im just worried about a 6" light that close to the window, maybe they could custom fab something for me

or i could mount them so they stick up through the gap between the hood and the fender body panel... hmm....

ANyone good at photoshop... who could pencil in some KC daylighters in that position?

Here's a link to a Unity spotlight install on an FJC from a few years back. If I recall Unity sells a 4Runner compatible light. Several companies also sell LED replacement lamps for these spotlights now too.

Ive always liked the look of the lights behind a satoshi grille i think it looks sweet. Also think about the blind spots you might create i know that right now just with my rain guards and side mirror i have a large blind spot. But all in all curious to see what you come up with.

Yeah definitely true. my B pillar always annoys me. I don't even know how I would mount the lights. I considered it a while back and drew up a bracket, i don't think it would work. Maybe throw a piece of angle across the bottom of the grille? i dont want any jiggle...

yeah i know fedrlbiker did an LED bar, and emelianenkov did two hellas, but he said his mount jiggles and that would drive me crazy. i cant deal with HID beam shake as is. I'm thinking if i lay a piece of metal across like a bridge i may be able to figure something out. also make me your bumper

im the same way with shaking lights my fog lights, before one decided to jump off my bumper RIP, would shake really bad so i didnt use them, they were so bright anyways it just blinded people so i only used them on backroads and stuff. Thanks i get alot of compliments on it. This is waaaaaaaaay off topic but what are the chances of you having your stock headlights haha think im gonna do a projector retrofit and mine are dingy and crappy

If you decide to go behind the grill, I'm modifying one of the bamf Tacoma light mounts for behind my satoshi. It mounts to the radiator support and the center support so it's very sturdy and provides many placement options for the lights/horns/etc (whatever you want to mount to it).

I remember you saying that. Off topic, how is your grille coming?

Also for the money I may try and cheap out and bolt up some 3/16 steel myself. I like the idea of the bracket.

As for the roof, I haven't thought about it. I only have two lights and I feel like that would look dinky/I don't want a rack unless you wanna give me your Whitson :Becky:
