Anyone ever re-route this vacuum line?

Thinking about putting in a custom tube straight from the throttle body to the box. I already know where to re-route the line that goes to the silencer box but what about this one? Looks like maybe it's going to the brake booster (could be wrong, going off of this image, not looking under my hood since it's raining outside).

Has anyone re-routed this line and if so where did you route it to?

That line goes to the emissions (the box to the far right in the image). Not to sure on how you would re-route that so it wouldn't throw a code and so you would pass emissions. Im pretty sure it routes to a VSV as well.

If that's the case then I'm left with quite a dilemma. My intake duct (just the short little one from the throttle body to the silencer) is cracked badly. I've tried the local salvage yards...nothing. New they're like $80, which even if I had that money to spend I wouldn't because that is about 10 levels beyond insane for such a part. Even a used one is $40+, and that's risking something that could crack at any time since it's already probably as old as mine.

That means I HAVE to replace the original boot with something custom since there's no other way I'm going to be able to spend the amount I can afford ($10-$15) on this repair. I've already picked up some flex-tubing that will easily slip onto the TB and not only replace the existing boot but allow me to go straight to the filter box (removing the silencer box completely). The only problem is how to plumb in this fitting to a flex-tube.

Never have I seen an intake duct/boot be difficult to find or more than a few bucks to get when you do find one. I'm just absolutely floored at how expensive/impossible it is to find such a simple part.

Go surfing at O'reilly's or Home Depot. Might have to get creative but you can replace that thing for cheap and keep that hose.

well the problem part is the little elbow that goes from the throttle body to the intake silencer box.

the vacuum line I was asking about is the one that comes out of the intake elbow.

I've GOT some universal flex-tube that I can easily go out there right now and put into place going straight from the throttle body to the filter box, fixing my problem AND essentially deleting the silencer...BUT, that eliminates the port for the vacuum hose that goes into that elbow. THAT is why I need to find a way to re-route it.

Isn't that piece rubber? Get a torch and an old screwdriver. Heat the screwdriver and melt the crack back together?

that elbow isn't too badly priced from camelback. I had to pick one up. if you order it include your VIN cause there are 2 different kinds.

it was cracked in three places this is a temp repair while I keep an eye out at the salvage yards. It does the trick.

when i bought mine, the airbox had been crushed by the accident. I didn't want to buy the factory parts, so i used some 3" exhaust pipe and welded some metal tube for that pipe as a connection. I can't say this is easier, but it certainly wasn't difficult.

What year is your 4Runner? I have a complete airbox and that hose. Just parted a 98 limited. If yours is 2000 and below I got the part.

It's $30 part from Camelback. Maybe seal the cracks with RTV until you have the $30?

Where are you seeing $80 new? Mine is cracked as well and I got pricing from Advance Auto Parts for $40 and change new. Until I get around to doing it, I just have black electrical tape wrapped around the entire hose pretty good.
I know that's not in your $10 - $15 range, but still. Someone is trying to rip you off.

Also, something that I do, and it's worked well so far for me, is spray a bit of WD-40 on ANY hose that I take on or off. Helps the flexibility so it won't crack or tear when trying to get it loose. I would also think that it helps keep them from aging and getting brittle as fast.

yes, mine is a 2000 and I desperately need that hose.

$65+ is all I've seen anywhere online. usually around $80. on top of that NONE of the local auto parts stores even have that part in their database, so they can't even order it.
