Anyone go from 5W-30 to 10W-30?

I recently put 10W-30 in my donor engine I swapped into my rig. The only reason why I did it was because walmart had royal purple 10W-30 jugs (5 quart) on clearance for 10 bucks. I bought every one they had (3).

Since it's no longer super cold, I don't see it being an issue in Wisconsin. In the dead of winter, it would probably be wise for me to go back to 5W-30 but I doubt it would really make much of a difference.

They are both 30 weight oils, the 10W is just going to be a little thicker when cold before it warms up.

Something I'm not spotting here is the lower vis (5W) is a bonus for cold starts-ups where the engine has to pull oil from the pan. An argument may be made that cold start may be -10 or +70 degrees. Cold being relative. In colder months it can be a plus to run the 5-30W. You won't exactly hear lifter noise but she may be happier getting oil distributed quickly?

BMW tight tolerance engines run 0-40 for example to pull oil easily on start up. That stuff (M1) is $9.00 a quart now Yikes!

I've done it with no issues whatsoever.

I made the swap from 5W-30 to 10W-30 and no issues. Always use Mobil1 oil. Seems like the valve train might be a little quieter but no way (that I have) to measure it....other than that - runs like a top and have no issues.....
