Anyone going to Pismo Jamboree?

Came across it in the 120 forums. Sept. 19-21 camping and wheeling at the Oceano Dunes SVRA, think I'm going to go as it would be my first wheeling trip. About 4 hours from the Bay Area and maybe 2.5 or so from LA. Camping is only $10/night. Oh for shame. Of course I was just there a couple months ago so I don't have much room to talk. I'm getting excited, figure at a minimum I need to buy a snatch strap and shackles so I have my own recovery gear or some semblance of it.

Pismo Dunes - Oceano

Pismo/Oceano - My favorite place. Great scenery, cool temperatures, no pin stripes and fun to drive. Last trip we rented a quad and played on the dunes using the T4 as a chase car and home base. Post photos and make the rest of us wish we had gone.

Cool good to know. I will only be overnighting Friday night as I need to drive back to work Sunday. So far I have me, my buddy and his taco, possibly 2-3 more tacos and a friend with a tundra and 92 4R, don't know which he is bringing. This is just the people I work with. The more the merrier.

Just be careful with our $40k rigs at Pismo. I was dumb about 6 years ago and rolled a sweet 87 Pathfinder I had just bought as a dedicated off road rig. It was lifted and in just about mint condition. I was trying to drive across a steep dune like an idiot (I know I know) and rolled the sucker. We were able to flip it back onto all 4's and drive it out, but it was toast at that point.

I live an hour and a half south and would someday consider a camping trip/ATV rental type of thing, but for now, its just a leisurely drive on the beach kind of place for me.

We were all lucky to be okay.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of guys from Mud will bring their 40's, 60's, 80's etc. and camp on the beach. Seen lots of pix, looks like fun, just too far to drive until retire and can take a couple of months to camp out and back.

Totally understand. There's also great dunes in Oregon I haven't been to yet but have seen pictures and Oregon is beautiful.

This is my first trip off road of any kind beyond forest roads and I don't plan to do anything crazy that would risk this thing. I enjoy it too much.

Just be sure to rinse the under carriage of the truck very thoroughly. There is a section(depending on tide)where you would need to cross through ocean water to get to the dunes and back through to leave the beach area. Ocean water/sand=rust. There is a diy car wash a little ways down when you exit out of the beach area. There you can give your rig a good rinse down before the trip home. When you get home do another under carriage rinse. You will probably be surprised how much pismo beach you brought home onto your driveway.

i was thinking of going late march or early april....
