Anyone have a "clank" when braking in reverse??

Mine was attributed to my lower control arms being torqued out of spec. I forget what the spec is but there's a couple threads on it. If you don't have a torque wrench autozone may "lend" you one.

I'll check that out, but I was leaning towards the problem being attributed towards the calipers/other parts of the brake shifting once I shift gear from Park/Reverse/Drive. Would be great if the issue was just an out of spec torque amount.

I definitely have this, can you replicate the sound by driving into a curb at slow speed? Ive been over my front suspension multiple times to torque everything to spec but the sound is still there. Just hoping whatever it is it doesn't give up the ghost while on the trail

I have not driven into a curb to test, the clank sound was really from the act of shifting gears and seemingly radiating from the brakes.

I had the same clanking sound when shifting from out of park into drive or reverse. Seemed to only do it during those times.

Sounds like brake pad shift. Common problem for Tacos, FJ's, and 4Runners. More of a nuisance and seems to get worse as the pads get thinner. Search and you will find a bunch of info on this. If it bugs you enough, replacing the pads should get rid of the noise for awhile.

YES!!! I have it too!! It went away for a week, then came back for a while and now that its getting warmer out, seems to have subsided for now.

OMG, and I thought it was just me. I brought the 4R in to have it looked at and was told that it was the brake shoe and that it was no big issue, all is ok with the 4R.

Hmmmm. We'll see. Glad to see other have it as well. I took a video with my iPhone for about 5 minutes of this happening, driving up and down the driveway. This was just in case the issue gets worse. I am tired of hearing from the dealer that "everything is within spec" or "its normal" or "theres no problem".

Anybody know how I can put my iPhone video up on this thread? Ill show you what I have. I am sure most of you can relate since we are speaking about this.
