Anyone have Brembo Drum Brakes?

Hello everyone!

I am looking to do my drum brakes in the next few days. They have 94,000 miles on them right now, original everything. The drums are a bit rusty and are stuck on right now and will not come off. I will take a look at them again tomorrow.

I want to replace them with stainless steel Brembo Drums and I would like to know if anyone else had them could chime in. I will probably be using OEM pads with this combo.

I dont, but i believe KellyJ has them. you should shoot him a PM. even the brembo's will rust though

I'm hoping they won't. If so, it might not be as bad as the current ones. I'm looking more for performance and durability.

If his were the brembo's, which I am 99% sure they were, they rust just the same as oem. Your best bet, whether you go oem or aftermarket, is to shoot them with a coat or two of rust resistant paint

I doubt you will see ANY performance increase. Perhaps if you modify the front setup but with the rear all you can hope for is to work at full OEM specs.

I have heard that 75-80% of the stopping power is in the front brakes on a 4Runner.

Yes, I am still running the factory issued rear drums. I have 207,000 miles on my 4Runner.

My front brakes are Brembo cross-drilled & slotted rotors with performance pads and the stock calipers. It has been a huge improvement. If I could go back in time I would consider the Tundra upgrade but the cost is SO high.

Im also running brembo front rotors and original dums in the back. Ive never had any trouble stopping. I feel like I can stop on a dime if need be. Only trouble I ever had was with the HORRIBLE ABS that came on our earlier 3rd gens, which has been discussed in detail in other threads. I pulled my ABS fuse last december
