Which one are you getting?
IMO, Crutchfield is overpriced. If you are willing to be hands on, I don't think it's worth it. Just picked up a Kenwood X 395 on ebay for $90. Good headunit.
I think a couple months back I got the sleeve and the wiring kit for $17 shipped, also from ebay.
Get some crimp style connections and a crimper. I would also get some extra wire and make add on in between the factory harness and the metra harness, so you can set the radio down on the seat. And also easily take it in and out.
Don't know what you are getting at.
But congrats on your purchase!
Agreed.
I already had the wiring kit and sleeve so all I needed was the HU.
Post pics when you install the JVC. I'd also be interested to see how the BT works. I was going to go with a X695, but I was unsure how the BT would really work.
Brown takes their time getting stuff there!
You should add this to the mix.
Alpine MRP-F300 V-Power Series 4-channel car amplifier 50 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com
I did (not from them, $60 more than on ebay), and really make the infinities sing. Now that I put the new head unit in, I can't turn it past 22/35 without it being seriously painful.
This has probably already been said but you might want to consider running new wiring for the door speakers, deck ground and power. At least you wont have to worry about the factory setup interfering, loose wires ect.
One of those Alpine amps will fit perfectly under the drivers side front seat.
New wiring is a good idea, especially if you're running a lot of electronics, adding an amp, etc. But not necessary in most cases.
And he's right about the amp, under the driver's seat is a perfect place for one. Good airflow and out of the way. Add a kill switch in the remote line so you can kill the amp if you ever need to.
Your missing out on 128 RMS.![]()
