Anyone Install an Outside Air Temp Guage?

Not that it's a huge deal, but temps often hover right around the freezing mark here on the mountain so it would be nice to have outside temp guage. Has anyone installed an aftermarket temp guage that nicely fits somewhere around the dash area?

I do have a ScanGuage II, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't tell outdoor air temp.

I have seen a variety of them online in different sizes and shapes, but curious if anyone has one they really like.

My 2000 limited has one built in.
maybe there is a sensor you can tap into since yours is a 2000 as well?

i use the intake ambient temp sensor on the scangauge. It works if you are cruising. Its not perfect and it will read a little high. It is under the hood after all. It is a good rough temperature measurement.

Try an auto dimming mirror with compass and out side temperature indicator.

Somebody out there put one in place of his broken clock. Search hard enough and you'll find his DIY on here. Yeah, Limited's with digital heat/AC control have one factory.

I did the same as nissanh did. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to do a nice clean install. I put the sensor in the same place as GM had it. I believed I paid $40-$45 for it at a pull yard.

It's been in for a little over a year...totally looks factory!! I've had no problems with it. IMHO...this is the best deal. Low cost, easy install, gain the function of auto-dimming mirror, can alway change back to OEM, mirror looks OEM...and you get a compass as a bounse...lol!!

I installed a Field Monitor Unit. It came with a temp sensor that I mounted just behind the front bumper.

Alright, I got a nice little unit that fits perfectly under the stereo and shows indoor/outdoor temp as well as battery voltage. It comes with a temp sensor with a 4' cord and was wondering where's a good spot to run the wiring, do you think a small wire running out the door jamb and mounted to the ditch light bracket would cause issues with slamming door slamming on the wire?

Here's the one I got. It fits in the cubby just below the head unit and is powered by the cigarette lighter rather than batteries which Is nice. I plan on hardwiring it for a cleaner look. I'm going to install it tomorrow so I'll let you know if I find anything relevant.

I got my temp/compass/rear view mirror setup from and awesome seller, nissanh. I read there is a number of people in this forum that went with this setup. It's a proven setup using gm sensors. Too cold for me to install the setup now.

Yeah, that's a sharp setup, I would like to go that route but thought I would try the quick and inexpensive fix first and see if it does the job. Plan B will be the mirror if this doesn't work out.

Here's the little unit I ended up installing. I really like the fit but I think I need to relocate the outside temp sensor because it reads way warmer than I know it is outside so it must be getting some engine heat. Where is a good place to locate the temp sensor? The wire is only 4' so not many options, I suppose it could be extended with similar guage wire?

It looks good there! I'm thinking about mounting a scangauge in that same space I have below my radio. I'm pretty sure the OEM one is on the front crash bumper and it reads pretty accurate. You will probably have to extend the wire though. I would think 4 feet barely gets you out of the interior.
