Just an update. The above product I posted for the HiLux Surf mirror is no longer available. However, I did find this which looks the same to me (same seller):

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa SCREW IT.

Decided to jump in the pool. Coming from China, so I expect it by November 2026. As soon as they come in, I'll post pics.

Here is what they are supposed to look like (hhehehah). Turn signals with puddle lights. Both of which are LEDs. Never took my mirror apart, so this should be interesting. I also plan on adding heated mirrors.

Update..............

Finally got them in a couple of days ago. Fellow member gshadow325 had his mirror already apart, so he offered me to test fit them to make sure the alignment isn't off. Like I mentioned in another thread, aftermarket products usually are crap when it comes to stuff like that.

• Plastic: nice and strong, not flimsy.
• Turn signal: already installed.
• Puddle lights: As you can see in the pics, they come separate. They just snap in. They do this, I assume, so when it comes time to paint them, you don't notice the "beige/tan" plastic color. If you snap the puddle lights on, around the border, you will see the cover's color. In short: Have them painted first, then snap them on.
• Fitment: (Inside mirror mechanism) perfect.
• Fitment: (onto the base), N/A.......... I haven't gotten this far yet. I looked at gshadow's mirror cover and it was identical, so I don't see a problem.

Kit comes with 2 puddle lights, extra wire and the two mirror covers with the turn signal LEDs already installed.

puddle LEDs, I counted 8 LEDs for each mirror. :

Passenger side:

Turn signal. I counted 4 LEDs. Should light up nice!

So am I off to the body shop to have them painted. Afterwards, (when I get the time), I'll install them, wire them up, then head to 3M installer to have them install a clear plastic film to protect the paint.

As I go, I'll post any updates. For far, the kit has costs me $140. If one were to get a Tacoma's hardware, I'm sure it would cost WAY more. Yeah yeah, I know, aftermarket stuff vs. OEM, I'm all too familiar with that...I'm wary of Chinese products, but this was too cool to pass up.

Not a whole lot new, I did get them painted:

Toughest part is going to be installing them. I've never taken the ones off my truck. Supposedly the mirror snaps off (grabbing from the bottom and pushing upward). I've also wanted to purchase heated mirrors as they are plug and play. I don't expect the wiring to be difficult. Just have to find the time. Again, I'll post next time with them installed.

I tried to install 5th gen mirrors onto my 4th gen 4runner after mistakenly reading that it was possible. turns out it is.... on a 4th gen tacoma. The holes on the door do not line up and neither do the holes on the folding part of the mirror. I think your best bet is to find the covers they were talking about and go that route. I opted instead to get the muth mirror blinkers and will possibly install some led strips under my side steps in the future.

Starting to install mine today. Started late, but ran into some problems (fishing the wires through the factory wire sleeve (massive pain). Ended up slicing the damn thing to accomodate the extra wires. Also, couldn't figure out for the life of me how to remove the wire bundle without cutting all of the wires (the harness plug is way too big to fit through a metal piece that goes in between the mirror cover and base. So I cut it. Anyway, I'll finish the install this week and post pics.

What you see is what I have so far. Nothing is connected. If you can believe it, I'm very excited (and cautious) about installing them. Cautious b/c I've never taken the mirror apart and still don't fully trust Chinese products. Excited b/c they are just very cool without looking all "ricey". They look factory (Huge thing for me).

Three issues with these covers, 1), Fitment, 2) Functionality and 3) longevity. Regarding longevity : Worse case scenario, I can "dissect" the LEDs and re-LED them. Nothing else can go wrong with them. Fitment is perfect so far. Functionality? Well, LED turn signals are always cool, beside, most cars/SUVs come with them now. The X-factor, for now, is longevity.

Work/Life has me pinned down, but I'm trying to get this done............................... this will get done very soon.

I am NOT going to tell you what colors to tap into and where for the left and right turn signals because you took so long to do them.

I even helped you out by confirming they will fit your OEM power motors.

You should have just gave them to me and bought yourself another set!

I was looking at Muth mirror signal (amber), but decided this mod was cooler. Besides, didn't you already mod your mirror with that cool side camera and LED puddle light? How's that working out?

Ok, so I finally got the passenger side on. Still, no connections (I ran out of sunlight). After tending to my 3 year old, went to gas up and decided to take the only pics I could today.

Some notes to pass on: When removing the mirror covers, just remove the whole thing. I didn't remove it when I first tackled this project and ending up being a HUGE PITA. I'll do a DIY, I promise.
