This is on a 2010 Limited 4x4.

This is the front driver's side camber bolt. There is a shim directly behind it with two tabs that keep it in place. What part is the shim? I need it on both the front of the lower control arm and the back of the same bolt. Bascially there are two of these per bolt and two bolts per lower control arm. This is the very front bolt.

Seems the guys who first tried to do my alignment didn't know what they were doing...just had another alignment done by a different shop tonight and those shims (the tabs) were completely bent outwards and the camber bolt was loose and turning. I could loosen by hand.

Anyway - I need to R&R these two parts (shims for lack of a better word) - anyone got any ideas?

Second pic is the shim pic after we had to hammer it back so I could get an alignment and drive out tonight. Need to come back to R&R these parts

Just a heads up…

If your alignment thingies are shot, you may wanna look at the upgrade available from Total Chaos. I installed these when I did my front suspension and was very impressed, they are burly like all of Total Chaos's stuff. Plus probably cheaper than the OEM replacement.

You are correct sir, those OEM alignment tab locators are spot welded onto the control arm mounts. Really, your only option is to go with the Total Chaos alignment tabs that I posted above.

To remove the OEM ones you have to drill out the spot welds, they come right off. You can see the 3 drill spots in this pic:

Seeing as how you are in SoCal, I would recommend going to see Jason Demello at Demello Off Road or going direct to Total Chaos and having them to it. Either way you cannot loose.

this is a good upgrade.


that said, if they were able to get the alignment in spec, leave it alone.

order the parts to repair it, have them ready, but dont put them on until you need it realigned.

Pat is the man! Glad he got you squared away, he and Nicole up there at TC know all the top dogs in the industry. That is a great suspension upgrade!

Anyway, I have some rubbing due to caster (3.9) so I need to bring it down a little and the steering is slightly off since our steering has a bit of play out of gate..

They also had no issue aligning (took maybe 25 minutes total) vs. the folks who did it the first time after the UCA install. They attempted an alignment 4 times - took them hours and clearly left the one camber bolt loose which caused the issue I am having...:ybrick:

lol - I hear you...I was thinking 3.8 or 3.7 as I only need millimeters. I have already fully altered the plastic wheel well to pull it out as far as I can and have had 285's on since 2010 with no issue or rubbing. The only change is the addition of some Icon UCA's

Trust me - the first question out of my mouth was "what else can I do now since your essentially taking everything apart"...

The answer cost a lot of money $$$.

I am only doing the tab gussets. Unless folks have a good source for acquiring new/better bushings for the stock LCA?

Company out of Australia...Tein USA in Downey, CA resells for them here. Can't find anything for the 4Runner/Surf for 2010+ BUT did find the FJ in 2010+
