Anyone rerouted USB cord/mp3 player access to small cubby in center console?

Would vastly prefer having access to my iPod in small cubby under the HVAC controls... rather than in glove box. Has anyone done this mod?

I found a small doc for my iphone4 and crammed it into the squarish hole next to the 12v plug. I had to shave it down to fit but its hidden and I could remove it if needed. The chord is fished behind the dash and connects through a whole cut in the top of the cubby.

I never thought of that but I think its a great idea. Especially for how often the Iopd interface F's up and I have to unplug it, turn off engine and start over. All the help on this subject would do wonders I think.

I seem to recall that someone had routed a USB cable to the slot in the centre console, but I can't remember if they posted how they did it. It'd probably be a similar mod if you can find the post.

Especially for how often the Iopd interface F's up and I have to unplug it, turn off engine and start over.

Are you saying you actually have to turn the truck off? The most I've had to do is unplug and reset the iPod when it freezes then plug it back in and it's good. Mine freezes maybe once a month but it's only a second gen Nano.

Yup. I think I either started a thread or commented heavily in one about the issue awhile back. I will get ERROR 3 often, sometimes several times a day. No rhyme or reason and impossible to predict when it will and when it wont. I have to unplug it, turn off the truck, start the truck and plug back in to fix the problem. Had the stereo replaced once under warranty already andf still does it. Happened with other Ipods as well, not just mine.

I thought someone on here got their dealer to replace the H/U because of the iphone 'error' messages? If I remember right they said they did not get them with the new H/U?

Harper7 put his dock in the center console slot. It's in his build somewhere, maybe? It's pretty easy to route the chord back there if you can decide where to put it.

I get the error 5 every now and then but I just unplug and plug back in all is well. Wonder what the issue is?

I want to do this. So, do you just plug an Ipod cable into the USB post in glove then thread the cord to a different location? Seems to easy to be right.

That's what I did. There is a small cover on the left side of the glove box that I notched to fit the chord into and then the console pulls up pretty easily. Just yank it up and put the chord where you want it. Pretty easy.
