Anyone run their Tundra TRDs/5100s at the lowest setting?

I am about to swap in some Eibach coils on my 4runner.

I already had Tundra TRDs on it, and am thinking about swapping them over to my Tacoma and putting them on the lowest setting in hopes of maintaining the stock height.

Anyone tried the lowest setting on their Tundra TRD/5100 setup? Where did it leave you height wise? Thanks for any input.

On a side note, anyone tried the Tundras on anything other than 5100s? Would be nice to keep them on the 4runner and get something cheaper on the Tacoma.

I'll have some Tundra coils up for sale soon if the consensus is this is a bad idea.

Shock body on the tundra is alot longer (at least compared to 4runner).
Measure from lower shock mount to lower spring perch and compare with the stock Tacoma.
Then measure lower perch to top perch while it's in the 4runner to estimate the rest of the height.

I have the Tundras. A tiny bit would be fine. I just would prefer to not have 2-3" on front and not on the back.

Yes, you are correct. I had thought about that. I may give that a shot. That is a lot of spring compressor time and pulling in and out. I'll see if I have the time for that this weekend.

Any ideas or opinions on whether the Tundra spring will work/destroy an average Tacoma shock?

I have the tacoma ones with the 3 perches. I run them on the lowest setting, with TRD Tundra coils and I have about 2-3 inch lift over stock

I have Tundra TRD coils and adjustable Tundra Bilsteins set on the lowest setting. I got about 3", which is about what I expected. I also have a 4xinnovations plate bumper on the front. My 4Runner is a 2000 so from the factory it sat lower then any other year.

Hello Dan.

I have the 5100 tundras waiting to go on my 4Runner, however I am debating about what coils to run.

I was told to go Tundra coils in front, and LC 7 wraps in the rear however I am concerned about too much rake.

Why are you swapping, are you doing Eibach front and rear or what do you plan on doing? I haven't bought my springs yet so I am still open to ideas.

Bro I have the tundra 5100s on the lowest setting Im running 883 and 890, 883 is a tacoma front spring and the 890 is a 4runner rear. I have close to 3" and it rides like factory.and I didn't need a diff drop. Wheeler's offroad will hook you up good. I would recomend letting them build the frount struts because your factory mounting hardware is going to be in bad shape.

Thanks for all the replys. I think my bumper/winch combo is a little heavy for the TRDs. It is a home-brew bumper, and it is HEAVY.

I think that about answers it. I will have some TRD Tundras for sale here soon I think. Sounds like I would be lifting the Tacoma if I swapped them over.

Why would you say that? The TRD Tundra springs are usually installed by those that want something handle the additional weight. That is one of the reasons I went with the Tundra TRD coils. I have a front plate bumper and it is not light.(probably 75-100lbs) I still have the adjustable Bilsteins set on the lowest setting.

Do you have a winch mounted yet? My Warn 9.5 is pretty heavy.

Even in Rickashay's extensive comparison thread, he mentions upping the settings after installing a bumper and notes some sag from the weight. Pre-loading destroys the ride that I bought the TRDs for.

No winch yet. I did read some of that thread.(specifically post #5 after you posted it). I have never compared them like a couple of those guys have, so I would have to take thier word. I suspect that when I add a winch I will bump up my setting to the 2nd or 3rd perch and see how it rides. My Tundra TRD coils cost me $100 for pair so it was an easy choice for me at the time and the ride has been good so no reason to switch right now.
