Anyone running 255/80/17 Tires Pizza Cutters

Cooper website puts them at 32.8" diameter.

Can you take a actual measurement of the tire? What Cooper publishes and the metric conversion are not the same - 33.1. I am hoping Cooper is being comsertive

I put the tape measure up to the last night and they looked to be right at 33". I wasn't too specific with it though. I can try to get some better measures after work today.

too bad there's so few 255/80-17 tires to choose from. in the more aggressive tread patterns, it seems like it's basically either the Cooper ST Maxx or the BFG KM2. i wouldn't be comfortable running the KM2s during the winter; even on-road, they're said to be pretty skittish in the rain.
anybody else see the AT tire review in the new Overland Journal? BFGs got dinged pretty hard.

Sipe KM2's! You are right, I live in Seattle and found out quickly that I needed more traction on wet pavement. SO, I had the 2 inner rows of tread lugs siped and it helped dramatically. Seriously, just pulling off the lot from the tire store after the siping I could tell my steering wheel required more effort to turn due to the added bite on the dry pavement from the siping. I was very surprised.

if i could find a local tire shop that doesn't get that dead-eyed, deer-in-headlights look when i ask about siping i would totally consider it. New England is weird.

No regrets. Tires are doing great. Drove from OKC to Dallas last weekend and averaged 18.5 MPG down and back. Ride is still great and closing in on 10K miles. Just a verrrry slight hum on the highway. Only notice if the radio is completely silent. Overall still very pleased.

This is probably a stupid question, demonstrating my relative lack of understanding of tire size physics .... But, here goes:
Will this 255/80/17 tire work on a stock 2015 Trail?
The few people here running them seem to have a lift, and maybe also a bit of fender trimming.
Also, some of you with 285's, which I know do require a lift, seem to be considering this tire as an alternative to your big fat 85's.
So, will the 255/80/17 fit a stock Trail, with stock rims and suspension? :help:

Can't say for sure, but I think there would definitely be some serious rubbing going on. Spacers may help, but I don't think it'd be enough. If you want the ST Maxx on stock suspension, they make it in a 255/75 and a 265/70. Both of which are under 32" in diameter.

I am running 235/80/17 in the Michelin AT2 (Load Range E) on stock SR5 wheels. I consider this the perfect northern New England tire. It digs to the bottom of any hole off road and is extremely solid on road in snow, slush and rain. We ran a set to almost 70K on our '05 Sequoia before we sold it.
This summer we relocated to Colorado and find myself wanting a little more rubber. When I do buy the wider rubber, I will keep the pizza cutters for winter use. Add me to the list of people who would like to see more selection in the 255/80/17 size.

As Alex says, I think the short answer is 'no'. I suppose it depends on your definition of 'works' though. Haha...
I have a new, and still stock, '15 TE and would love to run this size tire. I'm trying to figure out how much lift is necessary to make it work with stock rims.
There's a 'tire fitment' thread I need to consult again but if anyone knows the minimum lift required to make these tires 'work', let us know.

Finally ordered 5 ST/Maxx Pizza Cutters yesterday. Got my lift installed and I am ready. I called local Big-O who I have bought previous tires from and he called Cooper and they said they had 7 left! Price was too high vs TireCrawler (+/-40%) before freight etc so I ordered from them. They didn't indicate they were on back order but I will believe it when they are delivered. Anyway if you are considering this size do not hesitate because Big-O guy said no more for 6 months(I know possible sales tactic). Been wheeling w stock Dunlops on our sharp rocky Sierra trails and I was always concerned about cuts etc. I figure on getting about 1.25" additional clearance from new rubber. I think these will be a good tire for me in our snowy winters.--Dave
