Anyone running OME BP 51?

Has anyone installed the new OME BP 51 suspension yet? I have high hopes that this is going to be the best combo of both on road handling with off road compliance. Price is high, but it seems to have the ability to deliver the best of both more than any other system, much like AEV does for Jeep. OME reliability is also a huge selling point. Yes I have seen the other thread, but no end users there yet.

I want the BP-51 so bad... It looks like such a sweet setup. But same boat as you... It's crazy expensive. Would like to see others reviews of it before I pull the trigger.

Sub'ed cause I really wanted these, but just ran out of funds on the rest of the toys.. Went with a OME 3" setup for the time being..

Not so sure it's crazy expensive when you don't have to figure in UCA"s ...with the dampening control I'm guessing, but it should be the equivalent of say an Icon III or IIII. It's all designed to work with everything on our trucks.

I may have a group buy going here shortly...

UCAs may or may not be required depending upon the ride height you select, if you can align it to your satisfaction and clear tires... That geometry is defined by the u/l arms no differently than the other setups. My reading between the lines is that ARB is wishfully thinking they can get away with the 'not needed' claim because you can set the ride height low. I still want the BP-51s!

Exactly what I was thinking... I'm planning to run them around 2.5", so I'll probably have to go with UCAs & struggle with finding a competent alignment shop that can get me enough caster to save me from having to chop the body mount...

We have sold about 7 or 8 of those kits but I think most went to FJCruiserForum members.

We have yet to test drive on them but they look great. The only gripe is the compression adjustment method. It requires a tool and cant be done by hand like some of the other brands.

Regardless, they are ultra high quality shocks.

They don't recommend aftermarket UCAs with these? I must have missed that

Exact quote from the ARB rep...

"We offer two applications for the new 2016 4runner trails; our Nitrocharger Sport Shocks and our BP-51 internal bypass suspension system. Both systems are specifically engineered for the 150 series 4runner platform and factor in added weight onto the platform such as bumpers and towing trailers. This past year, we unveiled our internal bypass shocks that feature full adjustability for compression and rebound on each shock. Neither system requires control arms to function correctly."

This is up to 3" lift (the other system referred to is the basic OME springs and coilovers, which will also not need UCA's)

Lol. The shocks/struts may function correctly, but the remaining parts of your suspension may be out of alignment and your tires may rub... Love "reps"!

So how about I PM you his email addy and you can grill him and call him out for not knowing his product?

Not required for me, but thanks for the offer!:thumb3:

He may know his product, but he may also be using very specific words and phrasing... if you run a bp-51 at 3" the bp-51 will function perfectly, but the rest of your suspension may not... chance favors the prepared mind and geometry mathematically favors control arms.

It's tax return season....

this has happened before... ARB also claimed "no aftermarket UCAs necessary" back when they first released their OME suspension for the 5G. when questioned about the fact that their demo unit's alignment was out of spec, however, they went dead silent on the matter. it's deja vu all over again.

as mentioned above, i'm sure it's an artful dodge due to the fact that they're adjustable and that when set to a minimal lift height new UCAs really won't be required. every truck is slightly different and, hey, you may even be able to eke out a decent alignment with factory UCAs at the upper end of the lift height spectrum. it's not likely, but i suppose it's possible.

honestly, though, if you're dropping the $ and time on this kind of a suspension upgrade, just add a quality set of aftermarket UCAs to your shopping cart.
