Looks like a long wheelbase and a terrible breakover angle for a Rubicon. A lift will be the first thing you'll need to do. First year quality will be poor and there won't be many aftermarket options for a while. It will sell a lot though. Hopefully the welds were done right on this as there is a weld on the JL that has been failing.

I've owed jeeps and I've owned 4runners. For me hands down 4runners are superior. They both have amazing off road qualities. The jeeps are a bit smaller so they can fit in tighter spots, but not by much. However the part that I cannot get past is the fact that I never have to replace things on my 4runner cause they never break. My jeep was always gasket this. rubber that and stupid shit like weird electrical problems that had me baffled. I would rather spend my money buying the parts I want vs the parts I have to buy to keep it running. I will never own another vehicle except a 4runner. Thats my two cents.

I realized I used the wrong word with 'lifestyle' truck.
Here is really what I mean. It seems like a lot of the demand, both personal and on this forum, for 4Runners and Tacos is you DO go off-road, on-road, in mud, snow, with a dirt bike in the bed and depend on it everyday to get the groceries and take the kids to school. When I was in Florida a couple months ago Tacos with a dirt bikes were a very common sight! It's actually what got me looking at Toyota.
The Gladiator looks like you want people to think you do all that stuff when you park it in the mall parking lot. It's an Instagram model of the car world.

I'm with you on 4Runner reliability, having owned an '88 that I put 305k miles on, and currently driving a 2001 with 265k miles on it. Also have a new one.Fair enough. Here is a direct comparison by Consumer Reports. Don’t care how CR doesn’t like how they drive/ride, but I do care about the part “Predicted Reliability.”

As for where JD Power or someone else ranks them, I think most of us on here don't care, including you I bet. Toyota has proven themselves to us in person, over and over again. My bragging rights (if I have any) are the miles I've driven and the repairs I didn't have to do. I'm sure you have good experiences of your own. I read an article months ago, in a Car and Driver I think, which said that somewhere around 6% of ALL VEHICLES IN THE WORLD with over 200k miles and still being driven are, specifically, 4Runners. That's insane.
So while I can appreciate the work that Consumer Reports, JD Power, and others do in evaluating reliability, I think ultimately that only matters to folks who don't own a Toyota - yet. We owners already know.

I don't think it will make it past that. You honestly think these genius noob Jeepers will buy them once they see that it got a 2 star side impact rating? And they'll remove the doors on their JLU right after because "it's got side airbags though".

I'm having a hard time taking it seriously.
I know it should be able to off-road, but MOPAR scares me with their electronics. Looks like they let the Renegade designers on it for a while. It just seems like a toy or lifestyle fantasy vehicle. Something for people that say "brah" all the time.
Ugh... seeing builds and setups like this at SEMA look catchy on the convention floor to get people stopping/looking. But I agree... I don't think many people would actually take this seriously outdoors

I really think they should've kept the look of the Wrangler and that signature front end to the Wrangler alone. They just slapped a truck bed onto the Wrangler and called it good. Not appealing to me, but I'm sure they'll do just fine with their loyal customer base.
