Anyone tried the Moog "tall" Springs?

I bought the MOOG out of impatience, but spotted some OME's on Kijiji, never used and in original box for $80 less than original retail. I snapped them up. When I compared the 2 sets side by side I'm glad I didn't use the MOOG's... they look like twisted heavy wire.... I resold them...
My Moogs looked gorgeous (well, as gorgeous as a big-ass spring can ever look). No picture of them, but they were nice and clean and staight, like the OEM picture above. Just no color code.

After I replaced my saggy OEM's with Moog I was leaning about 1" on the driver's side. After the 1.5" Daystar spacer it's now about a 0.25" (using measuring tape) which is not visually noticeable. The 1.5" spacer gave me about a 0.75" lift which was enough to level it out.

That is kind of crazy. I used a 1/4" spacer to fix my ome lean. 1.5" should give you way more than. 75" lift.

I thought if you got the OME rear springs these are designed to already compensate for the lean? As for 1.5" spacer only yielding 0.75" correction, I read that was the way it worked, on another forum (tacomaworld or ih8mud) but I don't know why this is so...

If tru why does OME sell a 10mm rear spacer for lean? LOL

With OME coils up front and LC coils out back I had to install both the toytec 1/4" front spacer and rear ome 10mm to get it level.

Just to make this all a little more confusing, I threw some new Moog springs in the back about a year or two ago.

The Moogs have settled a litttle bit since I originally installed them — but they never sagged to the point I had negative rake unless I was heavily loaded in the back e.g., 3 kids, full tank of fuel and a bunch of gear. There was never any driver side lean either.

Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and I threw some 1.5 spacers in the back to compensate for the new coil-overs I put in the front. Even with the rear spacers there is no "driver's side lean".

Not sure if I'm somehow missing it or 1997 Limited models don't suffer from that issue.

Both sides of the rear are now at 23" from the limited flares to the middle of the wheel center cap when the truck has a mostly empty fuel tank and 22.5" when fully load with fuel.

Still no driver side lean.

I'll be replacing the rear springs/spacers all together this summer though.

Moogs are great if you are cash strapped and need something temporary until you can figure out what you really want. Hard to go wrong with them for the price — just don't expect a whole lot though and know that they will start to sag.

So if both factory 99 tall springs come with the same part number as do the moog and OME springs then why the need for spacers with some of the moog and OME springs and not the 99 talls?

Fwiw... The moogs showed up today and to my surprise, the two fronts are slightly different and one is labeled for the driver's side.

Awesome! Let us know how they are after you get them installed.

Moog has always been considered a very high quality part in the domestic realm such as Chevy. Maybe with time their quality has tapered off as I was surprised the Yota realm isn't fond of their parts. Maybe the Japanese parts hold a higher quality standard/tight tolerances.

I've been running the 81041 for about 6 months, daily driver, no off road. Improved the ride drastically over worn stock springs. They did bring the rear up a good bit too. I still have stock springs in front ( 170k miles on them) but have 5100s to put on soon with Moog 81090 coils up front ( they are labeled left/right) too. I just put the rear 5100s on last week and they work well with the 81041 springs.

-Rear 81041 Moog Springs, t4r 5100 shocks

-Front oem Springs 170k miles ( soon to be t4r 5100s 2nd ring and Moog 81090 Springs)

Sweet... I'll be changing my 266k mile springs and struts this weekend. Excited to restore some ride quality, as it currently feels like I'm riding on bump-stops.

I added a 1.5" coil spring spacer To the rear to level things out after installing 5100s. It actually improved the ride in my opinion, less body roll and floaty, corners flatter, but not stiff or rough riding.

Looks great! So you used stock front springs with 5100s which is what I'm about to do along with rear Moog Talls. What front perch setting did you use?

Yes stock springs ( Moog brand ) up front on the second from the bottom perch on t4r 5100s, Moog talks in rear. Ground to fender I'm measuring 36.5 up front and 38 in the rear. Before the spacer in the rear it was at 36.0 ( slight cali lean) . I'm guessing it will settle some as I got 2" of lift from a 1.5" spacer. I'm running 265/70r17 Cooper At3 tires.

Lol, well Baja stance isn't what we want. This being my first truck and being used to old VWs, the number of suspension options is mind boggling.

For now just the slightest amount of lift is what I'm going for. Sounds like Moog tall rears and Moog fronts at the bottom T4R perch setting might do the trick.

i installed the '99 moogs front/rear onto my saggy '01 and it gave me a nice lift. they are good if you don't add any extra weight. once i added a front bumper and tire carrier, after a few times off-road, they are now all worn out and very bouncy. i have since purchased a small lift.

That should bring you back to stock height plus about 3/4-1". Having gone through the install now, that's what I would of done in retrospect.
