anyone use a throttle body spacer? need some input.

Hey as I've mentioned in other tb spacer threads... PLEASE save your money for something else.
For one thing, I can't believe they make them for fuel injected vehicles, and $300 at that.
Again, on a fuel injected engine they do absolutely nothing. The people that claim they do something are either trying to sell their own or are trying to justify the cost. (no offense to anyone with one. )
why? well, on the old TBI and carbed engines, fuel was mixed with the air before the intake manifold. A spacer increased the time/distance the fuel had to mix with the air. In more technical words... a very, very minor increase in plenum volume.
On a fuel injected engine... you don't get fuel until much further behind the throttle plate. a spacer is just as effective as, say, lengthening your intake tube- it won't do squat.

Huh, I never really thought about it but that makes since. I had a 98 GMC Z71 awhile ago. It had the 5.8L vortec motor an I bought the helix power tower for it. It had some noticeable differences actually the only thing that stands out I can remember was that it changed the time it shifted. Most noticeably when I put my foot into it, it took longer to shift. But like you said it could be me just rationalizing buying the dam thing. Thanx for the help

No problem. I hope I didn't come across too aggressively. I have a big thing against these spacers. I recall losing a $300 sale because I just couldn't let the kid buy it. He didnt know what else to do to his v6 mustang. He wanted a tune, but said it was too expensive. seriously $300 for a one inch thick piece of aluminum with a big hole in it and some bolts.
I think he did end up with that tune, however...
I know what you should do though. Save up for a trd supercharger. 50 state legal, TRD, NO tuning required and they have complete instructions to do it. that 3.4 sc'd is awesome.
