Anyone use g2 or nitro gears

Anyone have experience with G2 gears or nitros.
Looking for reviews and recommendations between the 2 brands listed.

My friend has G2 in his truck and he has zero complaints. They're supposed to make some good quality parts. Im currently running their wheel spacers with no complaints.

Nitro is one of the only companies that make toyota v6 gears with the 29 spline pinion so you can re-use that stock flange on 96+ 4runners. The rest are the standard 27 spline and you just install a triple drilled flange when you set up the diff. The price difference of nitros is not worth it IMO. You save from buying a $20 pinion flange but they cost $100 bucks more.

THere are only a few place that cut gears in the world. Many different companies end up selling the same stuff for different prices. Its worth some research.

Any of the gear companies out there will be fine Nitro, Yukon, G2, USA standard ect. Proper setup is more important than brand or color of the box they come in.

I am having a hard time understanding what you are trying to say...the stock flange is 27 spline and cannot be reused with a Nitro. Nitro's are all going to be 29 spline, whereas Yukons and presumably G2's are 27spl, in which case you can reuse the stock flange.

Nitro's and most other reboxes are manufactured in South Korea, they all set up pretty well and are pretty quiet. I am not sure where the Yukons are made, but it is a Randy's product so likely SK as well, also note that USA Standards are a Randy's product as well, just lower quality.

IMO you can't go wrong with either, but the pinion is larger on the 29 spline model, even though it isn't a normal failure point, why not upgrade.

I originally ordered g2's front and rear but found out I had a 29 spline rear. Nitro was my only option unless I wanted to change to a different bearing and flange. So I have both and have beat on them and have had no problems.

Well I always thought that at some point the newer toyota v6 diffs switched and started to come stock with 29 spline. . and the older ones were all 27. But my stock gears are 27 spline... Did some research. Looks like 2001 is the change over year. where the v6 diff from the factory is 29 spline. My bad for confusing things.


And Trail-Gear's gears are white boxed yukon/usa standard. All cut in Korea.

When I regeared my junk I was going to do it myself to save $200-300 bucks. After you add up the gears, lockers, and a master install kit you are only a couple hundred bucks short of have East Coast Gear Supply do it. I ended up going with ECGS because they will send you the diff fully assembled and they have a 5 year warranty on it. I've used Yukon and Nitro gears. ECGS uses Nitro. Never had a problem with either.

I know this is a old thread but I just got the G2 gears and they are 29 spline plus they have a 10 year warranty

I am currently having MAJOR problems with Nitro Gear seems I CAN'T get the right parts from them in there master install kits and so far they are not showing any sympathy

I am just not happy with how I'm being treated and I had to spend a extra $100 for the right parts after they told me to go to Toyota to get the right part then didn't refund me what I spent

I ordered a master install kit from them since they were the only one who had the 50mm bearings. I had asked them specifically about the bearings, and they said they had them. When they came in my mechanic measured them and found they were 6mm too big. He called them and told them, they told him to put them in that they would work. He put it in and set the gears. When he tried to put the locker actuator in there wasn't enough room! He called back, this time they said they had problems with the bearings and they were too big, but he didn't know when he was going to get the right ones in and to go to Toyota and see if they had the right bearings, which they did, my mechanic asked if they were going to refund the amount back to me? he said to call and let him know how much they were, so I did. He said all he needed was for me to send him pictures of the two bearings. I asked if they would cover the extra labor he said he would see what he can do. I waited just over a week and called to find out the guy I talked to was sick, so I asked to talk to a manager but he couldn't talk to me. A new guy helped me but just said he could only give me $52 back and nothing towards the labor or the extra $100 I had to spend at Toyota, I was as polite as I could be, and asked if they could discount the install kit or do anything to help but he just said the owners said no and his hands were tied.
I did tell him while I was holding I listened to there hold recording saying they make sure there customers get the right parts and they make sure all there customers are satisfied, this didn't seem to matter to him.
I told him I would be forced to write a bad review on the forums he just told me he didn't blame me for doing that. I guess he didn't believe me or didn't care
