Anyone using Toyota 90915-YZZD3 larger oil filter?

Just curious if anyone is using the Toyota 90915-YZZD3 on their 3.4? If so, what is the increased oil capacity/refill? Thinking of trying this larger filter on my 2000 T4R.

I use the taller Motorcraft FL400s Been using them for years in my Saturn and 4Runner. I like only stocking 1 oil filter.

I have been using the D3 on my 3rz pretty much since I bought it 5 ish years back. A little more oil in the system, a little more filter media, lots of room for it. No reason not to.

I haven't measured the difference in volume but I would guess it to be about 200 ml more. It doesn't change the number of quarts I have to buy for an oil change anyhow, just a little less left over.

I use the oversized and all-synthetic NAPA Pl.41516. Expensive, but I use Supertech oil and run it 7500 miles. 200k and going strong and great Blackstones. Been doing it this way since 100k

I'm using the oversized Napa Gold (Wix) 1516 filter. It's equivalent to the Motorcraft FL400. Works great and I like stocking only 1 filter because I have two other Fords in the family that use this filter.

Is the supertech synthetic or regular? I’ve been using the Motorcraft semi-syn lately.

Best thing about the OEM filters: pre-lubed real o-rings!

Yes, I switched my 3.4 Highlander over to it so only have to stock one filter.
Make sure you fill your filter with oil before you install it, takes about 3 fills to the threads before filter quits absorbing all the oil, this way you don't have to worry about how much more oil, just add the 4 Q's and you're good to go.
Also the filter doesn't have to fill on initial startup, it's already full.

Difficult to do when you have to invert the filter to install it....

Interesting. Have you ever run a Blackstone doing that? I may try it and then run one, those filters aren't cheap.

Still building a dataset, have only run 3 so far. Wear metals look good and don't seem to be affected by when the filter is changed.

I already had the V8 filters for my 1st-gen Tundra and parents' GX470 when I bought the 3rd-gen.

5000, so filter gets changed at 10,000

I have to ask if you are going by miles there, when you need to change the oil but not the filter. Considering I have seen how well your top end looks thanks to Tim and Sean you must be doing something right :behindsofa:

Whoops did I say that? I meant to say seems like it runs smooths, shifts better, I've been getting 2-3 more miles more per tank(give or take ), and it soaks up the bumps better. Oh yeah and I changed my spark plugs the day before that.
