Anyone using waterless coolant?

I see that Jay Leno has been using Evans Water Coolant for years and wonder if it would be good in the T4R. It's got a couple of advantages, lasts a long, long time (I've even heard claims to lifetime) higher protection temp, no water so no rusting, good to -40F. It supposedly can't boil so the system runs low pressure. The draw back is that you have to flush all the water, using a special water absorbing liquid first.

Anyone using it or familiar with it?

I read that article as well, Popular Mechanics? I love Jay's articles so nice to read about automobile history and the passion of a man to preserve that history.

While the no water aspect is a nice feature, I'm interested to know how its other properties hold up? Electrolysis protection, cavitation protection, ect ect.

Looking at some of the .PDF Documentation it looks like pretty good stuff, though one of the test forms looks like it might have some redacted sections? Also the comparision test they ran did not show result with "corrosive water" or "air being bubbled" which makes me wonder how fast the coolant's additives and protection will degrade compared to diluted coolant when a small fluid leak is present in the vehicle. (Most Glycol based fluid seems to have a dislike for having air introduced into the system under pressure as I learned in a recent coolants update course.)

Not to go too far off topic, but honestly I would totally watch that show. I've seen interviews and videos of him talking about his cars and the work that's gone into them and you can practically see the old timey experience bleeding off him.

Water and coolant seem to do everything I ask of them.

The only time when it is an issue is for track days, and I have helped enough people clean gel out of their cooling systems and radiators to know that just flushing to straight water is a lot easier.

On my other forum...rx7club...I've heard nothing but good things from the guys or gals that run it...Anyone who's owned a rotary knows how much heat is output...I haven't switched as I don't feel the need to invest in the stuff...A properly maintained cooling system works just fine...

I will say that using straight water in a cooling system is an issue because the coolant provides lubrication to the pump.

Never heard of the stuff though. Sounds interesting. Probably smart for him because of his massive collection.
