That's kinda funny. But some of the comments are correct. Are we so PC now that we have to worry about her surname offending people.

Who You Hate Depends on How Smart You Are, Study Finds

Brandt and Crawford replicated previous findings that people of low cognitive ability tend to be prejudiced against non-conventional or liberal groups, as well as groups that have "low choice" in their status—groups defined by their race or gender or sexual orientation, for example. According to their research, this tendency inverted among people of high cognitive ability. In other words, the smarter subjects in their study were likely to be prejudiced against groups considered conventional or conservative—groups perceived to have "high choice" in their associations."

"People dislike people who are different from them," Brandt and Crawford said in an interview with Broadly. "Derogating people with different worldviews can help people maintain the validity of their own world view." In other words, if you see the world one way, you may rely on that perspective, so you might reinforce the idea that you're right by believing other worldviews are wrong.

There was another polarized finding in their study. Brandt and Crawford found that people of low cognitive ability are prejudiced against groups that people didn't choose to be part of, such as ethnic or LGBT groups.

Brandt and Crawford cited prior research that has shown less cognitively capable people often "essentialize," or see different groups as being distinct from each other, with "clear boundaries."

"Having clear boundaries helps people feel like the opposing group is distinct and far away. That is, they won't be so much of a threat," they said.

So JD are you saying your smart because you don't like conservatives?

What does that say about me then. I don't like groups that exclude all others that don't agree with them. But I like lgbt groups just fine. I like true democrats just fine. I like true republicans just fine. I don't like globalist or progressive as a basic rule of thumb. I judge people based on their actions and statement not by their appearance as best I can. If you bleed red we start the same. So what does that make me?

but ultimately I dont think the point was to say liberals are smart and conservatives are stupid. I think the bigger point was that people who tend to be prejudice against people for things they dont control (race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, etc) are of lower cognitive ability. While those who are prejudice against people for things they DO control tend to be of higher cognitive ability.

The fact that those things tend to, in a general way, align with specific party values may or may not be related.

Haha. Read you own response. Your article was about lumping people in to groups. And then stating which groups are smarter or dumber. What was your motivation for even posting that article. The groups I listed have chosen to group themselves. LGBTQ and a few other letters now have chosen that on their own. I identify them in that group out of respect to them as this is what they have said they want to be identified as. That's respecting others wants and or needs.

Where do you live JD. I live 15 minutes east of Seattle. And yes they did. We have a very large gay pride week and there are all sorts of signs with those letters on them and not in protest. I do a lot of work for a gay couple who own a night club in Seattle and the lgbtq letters are all over the inside of their club. So maybe it's an American thing. But up and down the west coast of America yea they did and they continue to do so.

No my history on this is a little fuzzy. But it started when calling someone a homosexual was an insulting term. They then started using gay and lesbian. Well that didn't encompass bi's and trans, and then they added queer. This was not a label put on them by an outside influence like those evil conservatives or republicans. Nor did it come from the liberals or democrats after all that would be oppressive and the latter to groups are very against oppressing anyone. So if I am wrong please correct me wise one.

I'm thinking its the latter, and its kind of ironically working to perfectly prove exactly what that study was getting at....

So as for comprehension why don't you address the last sentence of my post. Or is your worse.

I have been good friends with many people that are influential and very well established in the gay community of Seattle so what my post was based on was my personal interactions with them for the last 10+years.

What is your experience or are you just disagreeing to disagree.

This is really really simple. LGBTQ people did not choose to be a part of that group any more than you CHOSE to be white and American. LGBTQ people were born LGBTQ regardless of what name you put on it and they can't change that.

To be gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer. They then started calling themselves the lgbtq community in order to help them organize. One of the biggest pushes I saw in the Seattle are was when they were in the process of legalizing gay marriage. By forming the group lgbtq that they could unite under they were able to be better organized and had success with their platform. Go take your meds.

I've never understood why people want to argue that being gay is a choice.

What greater point do they hope to prove? And why does it matter so much to them?

Think about this one for awhile. I'm sure you'll get it eventually. Go back and read the article that this all is based off of.

You're confusing two different things. LGBTQ people and organizations formed to advocate on behalf of that group of people.
There are plenty of LGBTQ people who are not a part of formal organizations. There are plenty of black people who are not a part of BLM.

Think about the order of events. The bias against these groups came first, the organizations (I choose to call them that as opposed to groups to help better differentiate the two different things) formed as a result.

This is basically the entire point of the study posted earlier, which is why I find it so funny that you fail to see the distinction. Low cognitive people tend to be prejudice against 'groups' people don't choose to be apart of (LGBTQ, race). Higher cognitive people tend to be prejudice against 'groups' people DO choose to be apart of (a pro LGBTQ organization, BLM).

See the difference now? I sure hope so.....

Ok, since I stand by my statement that your an idiot. I am going to use the modern day equivalent of red crayon to help you out. I have copied the link that you, yes you posted about groups. Including the groups that are mentioned. If your reading comprehension is so low that you can't remember what you posted about that started this tangent of the thread, then maybe you should post stuff at all.
