Trump supporters flood Canada's Trump Sandwich artist with bad reviews

CqKEdtbW8AAtbBg.jpg:medium

The Canadian sandwich artist behind the Trump Sandwich — two slices of white bread, full of baloney — is being bombarded with bad reviews on his Facebook page as angry Trump supporters mobilize an online counterattack.

The Trump Sandwich, which mocks Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, comes with a side of Russian dressing and a tiny pickle, all surrounded by "a wall of Mexican chips."

"It's not a typical menu item. It's truly a joke. I saw the idea online. I just tinkered with it a little," Windsor Sandwich Shop owner Lawrence Lavender said. "All the ingredients tie into his campaign, especially the baloney."

Lavender believes "80 per cent of what [Trump] says is lies."

Within hours of CBC Windsor posting Lavender's story, his Windsor, Ont., deli racked up 43 one-star reviews on its Facebook page alone.

"I have friends on Facebook who are actually Trump supporters and who found it funny," Lavender said. "Unfortunately, there are some people out there who have been pretty hostile and rude. Some people have been very vulgar and inappropriate."

Most of the comments are too offensive to publish here. Some of them attack the LGBTQ community while others make light of the Holocaust.

Reviews are being posted by people who list their hometowns in states like Texas and Arizona.

"You live in South Texas — I'm sure you were in for lunch today," Lavender said sarcastically. "It's childish and silly."

'Review from internet troll'

He's resorted to replying to each of the fake Facebook reviews with a single statement: "Another fake review from someone who has never been here."

Lavender, a dual U.S.-Canadian citizen who intends to vote in Florida in the upcoming presidential election, said bad reviews are also showing up on other sites, too.

Over on Google, the one-star reviews are flooding in.

"Fake review from internet troll," is Lavender's response on that site, where seven of 48 reviews are five-star and 41 are one- or two-star reviews posted in the past 24 hours.

"I wasn't really expecting it to blow up the way it has and been seen by as many people as it has. I just thought it'd be funny and cute and get a few shares … and people would get a good laugh out of it," Lavender said. "I wasn't trying to make a serious statement."

LMAO! Typical response?!!

Ok I don't like bush either. But the presidents don't really get "vacations". They do how ever take "trips". Keep in mind that if any president takes a trip and does any one thing related to the roles of the president the trip then it is not a vacation but a presidential trip. Does this make sense. Those vacation trips the our former and current president took or did not take are very slanted.

This is one reason I would like to see pay and benefits reduced at federal level. The president and congress should only make the average middle class salary. Vacation days for the president should be what ever the middle class average is. Lifetime pensions for 4-12 years of service is pretty crazy when you think of it. I can maybe see the presidents roll having a pension because it would be very hard to go back to working. But congress should have term limits and a average working middle class salary. Then after their terms are up they should have to go back to the real world.

Obama did commission the cdc to do research. He also has them in charge of gun violence. Because apparently gun violence is a disease now. That study is hard to find but it is out there. It was intended to prove something and ended up disproving it. They are doing their best to keep it buried. I think it actually took a FOIA act originally to get the study available.

I haven't seen or heard anything that would suggest Obama is really trying to circumvent the 2nd Amendment.

If you're the President, and you're having to deal with mass shooting after mass shooting, you have no choice but to make some kind of effort to reduce them.

The problem is, you can't even have a reasonable debate about the issue and what could be done.

Now, there's NO DOUBT that there are plenty of Democrats that are all for serious weapons bans, but the vast majority are more towards the middle, where most of the country is.

Instead of addressing crime and criminals he is addressing a tool. Nothing more of less. The whole government won't step up to the fact that it's a criminal problem and criminals don't go through background checks. Don't care if they are breaking the law ect. There are newer laws and policies in place that essentially decriminalize certain felony activity. California is no longer sentencing certain assault 3 crimes. It helps them appear to not be racist be incarcerating less black citizens.

If we address the criminal element then we have a better chance at solving the problem. And you right Obama has never said we wanted to ban guns. He's for "sensible" gun control and national background checks. Background checks in most states have a SN of the firearm included. This by default is gun registration. Look back in world history to see how well that has worked for other countries. Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Mussolini. All had firearm and weapons registration. Then confiscation by a corrupt tyrannical government. I'm not so blind to think that won't happen again.

As to "sensible" gun control. We here weapons of war. Well every firearm designe has been a weapon of war at some point in time. So what a time frame that no longer makes them weapons of war? I haven't heard an answer to that. He is for making your Tavor not legal to have in its original configuration. No 30rd magazines. Possible bullet button implementation, vertical for grip ban. Non of these ideas would do anything to reduce gun violence.

If you take out the cities with the strictest gun laws in the country you actually lower the American gun violence statistics substantially. So one can easily argue that gun control is not the problem. It's a people problem. And a certain class of people at that. Most people that commit gun crimes are gang members. But we don't here about those because it's black on black crime. Got to get back to work for now.

None of the mass shooters were black, and most (maybe all) had no real criminal histories. The worst ones were done with legally purchased guns. So I don't see what your point is.

And here we have a massive jump from requiring background checks, to taking everyone's guns. That's the end of any reasonable debate. Godwin's law has been proven, and there's no point in continuing. But I'll do it anyway....

I agree. So we're back to properly vetting people before we let them buy them. But you're against that too, so what is YOUR idea to reduce mass shootings?

We hear about them all the time. But that's a separate problem than mass shootings.

Look, I grew up with guns. I love them. I have a bunch of them that would be considered weapons of war by most reasonable people, and I don't care.

But there is a reality that is setting in on the country that we have a LOT of crazy people out there that shouldn't have these weapons. We also have a lot of people buying guns right now that never had any interest in them whatsoever just because they're afraid they're going to be banned. The problem is most of them have no real training or experience, and they're not being responsible with them.

And then there's also this "instant badass" syndrome that certain people get when they've got a gun in their pocket, and the hardcore "prepers" who are just dying for things to go to shit so their craziness is vindicated.

You're arguing with the "presidents don't get vacations" guy.

Well let's start with what a vacation is. It's time you take away from your job. i.e. You are not working. The president is working every single day. If a national incident happens when the president is on "vacation" does the president get to wait till they get back from their vacation? Do they no longer get national security briefings? So it's not really a vacation. It used to be called a retreat. Camp David was a common place to go. This also happens to be a military installation. With the advent of technology they are now able to have the same resources on the go. But I don't know how you can say the president is off the job on a vacation.

Let's address the mass shootings first.

Chicago is home to the most mass shooting in our country yearly. Yet nobody cares including our president. But he was a senator in Illinois and help pass their strict gun laws. Yet gun crime is rampant with very tough gun control laws.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/10/08/america-s-mass-shooting-capital-is-chicago.html

Detroit is also on the list of mass shooting yet you don't hear about it as well. This link talks about what some people are noticing that is different in adults today vs 50 years ago. Interesting perspective
http://wdet.org/posts/2016/06/13/83...-detroit-to-orlando-and-other-mass-shootings/

This link actually give you the mass shootings that most people seem to ignore. You will notice that most of the states on this list already have strict gun laws. So do more laws make sense?
http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting?page=2

The press conveniently called the San Bernardino and Orlando shoots mass shooting. They were radical Islamic terrorist attacks. San Bernardino killers bought their guns illegally. The receive them through a seller that purchased them legally but then did not follow the law and transfer them to the shooters. But the could have purchased them by themselves as the legally bought the handguns they used. All with strict gun control laws. It's just criminals don't follow the law.

In this country we have a mental illness problem. The reason I call it a problem is probably different than why most would. The HIPAA laws prevent mental illnesses from being reported to authorities except in extreme cases where the person is a danger to others and usually a judge has to be involved at that point. The Charleston church shooter, columbine shooters, sandy hook shooter all mentally ill people. But for privacy reasons you can't report them to the authorities.

You want background checks. I am ok with that. So how about I have the ability to go to a FFL and walk up to the counter. I say I would like a 5 day background check so I can purchase a firearm. They take my information and run it through the same system we have today. It comes back proceed or deny. I then get a print out that is a copy of my background check. I can no go to a public or private seller present my background check and purchase the firearm of my choice with no gun registration. If the seller is unsure just like today they can halt the sale. Also it wouldn't be to hard to add a phone number you could call to see if the background check is valid.

That in my opinion is a very easy compromise. It has been brought up several times before but it not good enough. I ask you why it's not good enough?

If you want required training well make it optional to skip the training and challenge the final test. No cost on the test. The training could be charged but the test should be free. You should not have to pay to exercise you 2nd amendment rights or any right for that matter.

Where is the CDC gun research??

So many of those articles mention it but I cannot find the actual research anywhere....

I was under the impression that the Dickey amendment essentially handcuffed the CDC from doing meaningful gun research since 1996, after their studies at that time came up with results that the NRA didn't like.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dickey_Amendment_(1996))

Here is a link to the executive order Obama signed to let the cdc start up again with gun violence.

Edit: here is the link to the cdc study
