Anything I should know/ask before purchasing?

Im currently looking at a 1995 4runner 4x4, auto, with around 250k miles. The owner wants $2000 obo. Anything I should know/ask before buying it? I am of course going to run a carfax on it before purchasing, but are there any key points or problems I should be aware of? The car will not be my daily driver and it will mainly be used on the weekends for mountain terrains; fishing, hunting, etc....

Should I even buy it because of the high mileage? That's one concern I have, but I have no experience with 4runner's. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

What engine???

When was the last time the Timing Chain or Belt was replaced?
The auto trans serviced? and what does the fluid look like now?
Has the steering relay rod service campaign been performed?

Frame rust is a big problem in some areas. Check it closely.

The v6 is prone to head gasket failure and weak hp for th size of engine. As long as you're prepare to deal with these issues... Go for it! I still love mine.

No kidding about it being weak. I didn't buy the '95 as suggested above but I bought a '90 4x4 v6 5spd instead and when I took it for a test drive, it felt as sluggish and as slow as my old civic. What the hell was Toyota smoking when they were designing it? How the hell are you supposed to tow anything with that kind of power? A few gripes I had, but anyways what conditions are the head gasket known to fail under? The interior has a smell to it that kind of annoys me, is there anyway to get rid of it? Is this smell normal with old Toyota trucks? My dad also has an old Toyota pickup and it has the same smell to it.
 
Good choice going with a 5spd over the auto. Gase mileage is just horrid on pre-96 automatics (something about lock up). If it has ADD - swap out hubs to old Aisin or Warn manual hubs - makes it feel a tad less sluggish.
