Anza-Borrego family fun trail run weekend

POLL DECISION..

OFFICAL TRAIL RUN IS Oct 13 - 15 (3 days, 2 nights)
PRE-RUN IS Sept 30 - Oct 1 (2 days, 1 night)

Who: Any and all Toyota owners in the SoCal area.

What: Trail riding, very short hiking, and enjoying some local attractions.

When: See poll for dates but feel free to join up any day for a partial trip or day run (meet us at one of the camp spots).

Where: Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (inclusive of Ocotillo Wells).

How: With our reliable Toyotas and communication radios.

Why: Because why not? It's always a good time putting faces to the names you've heard of.

I usually like to lead smaller runs of a maximum of 7 rigs because they're easier to manage but since this would be an opening run for the season I'd like to try something bigger. I'm not thinking of any cap yet but I would love to have volunteers that are also familiar with the area assist in leading. I'm thinking at least 1 leader for roughly every 7 rigs also. We'll most likely be doing primitive camping one night and developed camping another.

Furthermore, especially depending on how diverse and large the group is, we may have to break up the activities into 2 or 3 groups on Saturday; some might want to do short hikes or some might want to do more trail riding.

Some other ideas: poker run, giveaways, etc.

Interested if it's in October. A lot of the SoCal section will be on the upcoming Calico event on 9/22-9/24 so the following weekend may have a lot lower turnout. A few of us that were on the January Anza run have some unfinished business with Fish Creek too (you included) since we had to turn around due to trail conditions. Do you know how the washes in that area are doing after all of the flash floods it received earlier this year? Haven't been out there since then.

Ive been back a couple times since and there all good ..they have been driven up and over a few times, a lot of chunks/slabs off the walls have fallen been none that blocked a pathway but more exposed rock throughout the washes and a few tighter sections. All manageable in our rigs.

What are the vehicle requirements for Anza? I've been wanting to go but have been reluctant without suspension work done. Will be in a 5th Gen 4runner SR5 4x4 with 265 AT Tires but stock suspension & basic recovery gear. Friend has a 5th Gen 4runner trail, everything stock.
