Apple Car Play update to 5th gen T4R

Any folks out there work for Toyota?

On a Tundra forum, there is rumor that Toyota will offer a software update that will essentially upgrade Tundra units with the Entune platform to Apple Car Play. Some Camry owners are saying Toyota already released this update for older Camry’s. Has anyone heard this rumor and the impact or may have to the 4Runner platform? For example, I own a 2016 SR5 Premium with Entune which of course does not integrate Apple Car Play.

Don't get your hopes up. Carplay requires some specific hardware specs, not just firmware.

Don't believe the occasional guy posting on here that claims he has an inside connection with a brother/sister/uncle friend of a direct decedent of Kiichiro Toyoda claiming an update is on the way.

It DEFINITELY doesn't have the resolution to look good. Look at Beat-Sonic's add-on

This was a rumor started based on speculation that because Toyota released a carplay upgrade for the entune 3.0 equipped cars that it might happen for other models. 2019 and earlier 4runners have entune 2.0 and will not have an upgrade made available.
