Appreciate The Safety Of Our 4Runners

I saw this story on this news and it really proved how safe the 4th generation 4Runners are. There was a serious accident on the NJ Turnpike involving two tractor trailers, a Nissan Altima, a 4Runner, and two other vehicles. A truck carrying bricks could not stop in time for traffic and ended up hitting an Altima and then flipping on top of a 2004 4Runner. The Altima and 4Runner hit two other cars and a tractor trailer from the impact. The pictures of these cars are just devastating. It is amazing that anybody in these two vehicles survived. Unfortunately, three out of the four passengers in the Altima did not survive and the driver of the 4Runner did not survive either. The three other passengers in the 4Runner survived the accident, but are in serious condition. Seeing the pictures of the 4Runner made me realize what a smart decision I made in buying a 4Runner. It is amazing that anybody could survive in a vehicle that had a tractor trailer hauling bricks flip on. Here is a link to the story. Like I said, this is probably the worst accident I have seen in my life.

Must have been a day for 4Runners. Here is a 3rd generation that was rear ended by a Saturn and both cars rolled. There is only one picture of the 4Runner and it's hard to tell that it is a 4Runner but the video story on air showed the complete car. Wow, that was horrible. What pisses me off the most was how preventable it was - the truck was being driven over-weight and by a driver who by law should have quit an hour earlier! :upset:

That altima wasn't even recognizable, so no surprise there that everyone was killed except the child (who was probably protected by the childseat). By the looks of how far they were shoved underneath that semi-trailer they probably all died of head injuries, so hopefully at least it happened quickly for them and they didn't suffer.

The 4Runner was also torn apart more than I expected to see, although much of that damage was probably from firemen extricating the occupants. The driver must've been struck from behind with bricks or something - I can't see what else would have killed him. I suppose he could have not been wearing his seat-belt though, in which case who knows how it happened. Thankfully the others were mostly protected though.

I still can't get past the fact that if simple trucking regulations had been followed this would likely have never happened. The survivors of those families deserve massive $ettlement$.

Yeah! I was replayed on Fox News yesterday everning at 5:00PM. I could not believe the 4runner had saved all three passengers. Sadly, it did not save the driver.
